Now JPS customers can read their meters by just looking at their cell phone JPSCo application. Conservation doesn't work, I have been doing it for years to no avail, if as if the more I conserve is the higher my bill comes, before the pandemic we use to leave the house by five in the mornings, don't reach home until 8:30 / 9:00 in the evenings, I plug everything out before we leave every single thing not even a charger don't leave plugged in, only leave to turn off the breaker, for years and instead of my bill going down ,it goes up,what could be the cause of that, and I have gotten electrician to check the premise already.right now I only have a fridge a radio to listen NNN four light bulbs and phone charger and my bill is $9810, and person's with washing machine,TV, microwave ect don't turn care about conservation paying the same and less.I need answers.
ReplyDeleteElectricity bill is expensive. If you have not been conserving it would have been higher. To find out if you are conserving or not, you must check the kilowatt hours used each month to see if it increases or decreases.
DeleteThe kilowatts increase every month basically, I always cheat it , but my point is why is it increasing? I'm not doing anything I don't normally do, as I said for little over two years I don't have TV, microwave, washing machine ect,I'm going to have to write them a letter.i know This young man who lives alone, leaves early for work and is because of curfew why he would be home at a certain time now,and when he does he sleeps because he's tired to the type of job, he has one fridge and a Tv that he doesn't use light bill comes$25,000,how can that be? These bills don't seem accurate, something is wrong when a person has all types of electrical items paying less that you who doesn't.and the question is still being ask does it has to do with the community,as well as payment for those who are not paying?
DeleteThere are many factors involved in the use and registration of electricity. Several things can drive your bill out of whack
Delete1. One of them is the state of your wiring in your house. Just like your car engine you need to be inspecting your wiring. You can have chafed wires eaten by ants eg. Which results in leakage ( like you car leaking oil from a broken valve)
2. A defective meter can also be the cause. But to determine that you will need to look at your consumption pattern. Fluctuations are based on your habit but a steady high based on your appliances is cause for concern
3. Improper grounding - if your ground wire from your meter to the earth is broken that's trouble. Big trouble. A weed wacjer could break it in an instant
4. Get technology to help add consistency to your Conservation effort. We are humans and we dont always remember to conserve...but the technology will
5. Service appliances - when last did you service your ac unit, your fridge ( yes your fridge needs servicing and the rubber has to be checked. If a dollar bill can slide through so is your cool air escaping.
6. Get a prepaid meter - the people with repaid phones dont have bill issues and they watch their minutes like a hawk. The same thing applies to prepaid JPS customers . They dont really have HIGH bill problems and generally they pay for what they use and benefit from...they have very little PHANTOM electricity like a fan running with no one there and a tv watching you while you sleep.
NOW you know a little more...check these things and experience the changes
We wont be able to change the unit cost of electricity but we sure have control over the units consumed daily, weekly and monthly...
What if you already have the app on your phone, do you still have to re- register to get the weekly reading?
ReplyDeleteIt just mean that you have not explored the application!
DeleteYou may need to update the app as well
DeleteIt is one thing to monitor our bills jps however thats not the real issue for me, fact is i can be monitoring my own robbery, the real issue for me is your sky- rocketing oil charges etc, when my useage is many times 5% or less that your ipp ccc ttt and whatevercharges thats my concern.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but there are many other factors...you might want to try a prepaid meter..it works with monitoring and managing your usage and ultimately the cost of your monthly usage. Unlike the supermarket which changes the price weekly you see this change monthly ( and remember, your JPS bill is NOTHING like your monthly food bill)... it takes serious management..lights must go out in areas with no movement.. use timers where possible (not on your icemaker fridge though) and check the state of your wiring and meter socket (water getting into the socket or a defective meter will drive your bill to the roof). If you live near the sea it gets worse with corrosion.
DeleteWe cant change to cost of the inputs..oil price, gct, etc but you can change the output ( units used monthly)
There is also the over 200,000 who do not pay any electricity bills. I wonder who pay for them?
ReplyDeleteSame ppl who pay for spoiled lettuce in the supermarket pay for some of the losses..not all. EVERY business does that..not just JPS. It's called cost based pricing. So let's not focus on that cause the OUR stopped the separate charge on the bill long ago. Loss recovery is embedded in every price for every product and service you use. I was shocked to hear a friend of mine explain how supermarkets determine unit prices and a piece of it is for spoilage...not my fault the lettuce calaloo or yam spoil but I have to pay for that...
