Hurricane Beryl - Aftermath

Hurricane Beryl's impact on the Caribbean has been severe for some countries. Grenada has suffered major damage on one of its islands. Barbados and St. Lucia also suffered damage. Jamaica pulled out all its stops preparing for Hurricane Beryl but you can do so much and no more. Parishes such as Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland have suffered significant damage. We have to give thanks that there are only three reported deaths so far.

We need to learn from these deaths. Securing everything before the storm but remember that during a storm all you can secure at that time is your life.  One woman lost her life because she went outside to check on her Internet connection. Another man went to retrieve a ball in a gully.

Many areas have lost their utility services. The damage is being assessed and the utility companies will use that information for planning how to deal with the damage. I just got a report that the large community of Rhyne Park in Montego Bay still lacks electricity.

Some scenes during and after Hurricane Beryl

This lady was blown up on the roof by the storm?

This is not hurricane-related problem. This is due to poor workmanship.
This Haining Road in New Kingston. Notice the zinc fence to the right.
I can just imagine if they had got caught in the hurricane!

These trees on Fairdene Avenue in Kingston survived.
The next hurricane could take of them along with the buidings.

This car was properly wrapped up in plastic to protect it from Beryl

The importance of protecting that car :)
