Can Dis Bad Pickney Be Changed?

Who recalls this evidentiary symptom of the negative socialization of our nation's children? The foundation of the brutish, murderous, vulgar, and uncivilized Jamaica. Nasty mouthism in motion. Who can stop this now? A child, perhaps no more than 4 years old, so bold.

Brilliance is what I see, having great potential. At that age, he is so bold and seemingly soaked up all that is in his socio-cultural environment.

It would be of great sociological interest to track this child; it could make a great study from which a lot could be learned. On internship I had a class of deviants and illiterates. You had to be creative to teach them because the objective is to teach X. The assessors could arrive unannounced; that's what they mark you on. Has your objective to teach X been achieved? If not, why not? You have failed.

The present system of teacher training "internship" has been dispensed with.

Partly explains why Jamaica's literacy has fallen so badly that we are now the 4th most illiterate in the Caribbean. Jamaica's literacy programs need to focus on the male child first. More male teachers needed.

Editor's Note

It would be interesting to track this child and see what he becomes in 10 years to 20 years time.

  4. His parents should be called in and meet with the school along with the child. He's throwing a tantrum. It would be good to know the antecedents of this situation. He needs to apologize to the teacher(s) and his classmates. He's not a lost cause, just misguided. At that age, they are very impressionable.

  5. I remember that video oh so well. Quite frightening. Poor parenting skills and values - Jamaica's biggest problem. Our families are in crisis.
