When Students Fail To Use The Government's School Bus System!

When the school bus system was about to be introduced in Jamaica in 2025, there was an avalanche of negative criticism, which could lead one to believe that judgment was at hand. As a people, we need to support good ideas whether or not they are coming from the party that we support.

So far, the government's school bus system seems to be working, but improvements might be needed. If you have ideas for improving the system, then you can add a comment at the bottom of this blog or send a WhatsApp message via (876) 816-5261.

Yesterday, it was brought to my attention that approximately 50 Garvey Maceo High students crammed into a minibus. I can just imagine some would be seated in the laps of others, and some heads would be stuck under the armpit of others. Some might even seize the opportunity for certain sexual exploits.

How can we say we are poor and cannot afford to send our children to school, yet we can send them on a minibus, which is far more expensive than the school bus service provided by the government? I am certain that the slackness that takes place on these minibuses cannot take place on these buses provided by the government.

This is another example of children and their parents who do not believe in discipline and order, and they have paid dearly for their folly. The case of Buju losing her life in Montego Bay is another example of people supporting slackness and having no respect for authority nor law and order.

The government should not pay for any PATH students who do not take the government's school buses. If they can take these private buses, then they don't need to be on the PATH programme.

The driver of the ill-fated bus said the brakes failed. Probably the brakes in his head failed.

I can just imagine how this driver might have reacted to the police if he was stopped on the road. He probably would not stop. Can you imagine about 50 students packed in a bus that is supposed to hold 28 students? 

The driver and/or the owner of this bus should pay for the damaged median and also for all medical expenses at the hospital.

This is another case of a country where indiscipline reigns, and many support the indiscipline. The parents are fortunate that no one died.

Why Shooting Of Taxi Driver By Police Got Strong National Attention?

I am fascinated by the level of support that the Granville taxi lady killed by the police has been getting on social and traditional media. The public has formed its opinion based on a viral video of the incident. 

I don't have the experience, the training, nor the resources to carry out research into this interesting phenomenon of the unusual support for this taxi driver. However, I have received feedback from many people.

There are many things that the public is not privy to. The directions given by the police and also the response of this lady at the scene of the incident. The police would have to be madmen to shoot that woman in front of so many people without having a good reason. 

I am getting various stories from various people who I believe are responsible persons, and these stories seem similar. First, the woman was deported from the US for crimes committed there. She is also involved with scamming in the West, plus other things.

I have received the following information from various individuals, and I am sure the police will issue a full report after a while. Please note the following information, which I obtained from the ground.

• She has no license to drive a PPV in Jamaica.
• The motor vehicle she was driving was not a registered taxi.
• The police were about to get a wrecker to seize the vehicle.
• Her reaction to the police was one of defiance.
• She threatened to harm the police.

I have been told that she is known to the police. She was involved in a number of activities that were in conflict with the law. I have also been told that she is supported by her community because they benefit from her activities. My concern is how some sections of society have formed a massive wall to defend and protect this deceased woman.

The following are my conclusions based on feedback on why there is this strong support:

• She has strong political support on the ground.
• The community depends on her and those around her.
• Many support her because of her sexual orientation.
• The police have a significant number of enemies in society. They can only blame themselves for this.
• Jamaica has a significant number of persons who support criminals and their activities.
• Some media personalities have started to compete with social media, and it is all about the hype and not getting the facts.

Decent Jamaicans must stand up, or else Satan will take charge of this country. Something is wrong with too many of our people. We are irrational, we are contentious, and we are always ready for a fight.

The problem we have is a national one. The shooting in Montego Bay only highlights the cancer that is developing inside. This anti-authority cannot continue. This will lead to a complete breakdown of the social order. We need to remove the profit from crime. Montego Bay has major problems with scammers. They function like the mafia. They have no respect for authority. 

The country has several terrorists, and the current judicial system cannot deal with them. Who will testify against them when it is better to support them? Probably that is why we need to lock them away permanently, and if they challenge the security forces with deadly force, they should dispose of them immediately. If there is another Latoya "Buju" Bulgin out there, tek sleep mark death.

There was a time when dons controlled large areas of Jamaica. There was Dudus, Zeeks, Donavan 'Bulbie' Bennet, and others. I don't like what I am seeing. Now we not only have dons but donnets. May the good Lord help us!

Police Shooting Of Taxi Driver - Somethings To Think About

As the debate continues about the woman who was shot by the police in St. James, I thought it would be a good idea to look back on a few incidents when motorists, rather than stopping, proceeded to drive away and ended up injuring the officers.

If the taxi driver was attempting to drive away while a police officer was standing in front of the vehicle, then there are two most likely outcomes. You could have a dead driver or a dead police officer. A vehicle can be a deadly weapon, and when a car is coming at you, you have a split second to make a decision. Some officers will not allow the motorist to kill or injure them; they will take evasive action.

The following are links to stories about police officers who have been run over by motorists. I am sure there are more stories, but I did not have the time to do more research. If you are aware of others, then send me a WhatsApp message to (876) 816-5261. These are the stories:

3. Cop run over by a driver.  August 2024.
4. The driver hit a policeman in New Kingston and sped away.  January 2020
5. A cop trying to stop a taxi was mowed down by the driver. January 2026

Citizens can jump to their own conclusions about the incident in St. James, but only sick political leaders and sick radio personalities would jump to conclusions and broadcast such opinions before INDECOM's investigations are complete.

My advice to all motorists: when you are given legal instructions by the police, refrain from getting into arguments. Definitely do not attempt to drive off when you are being interrogated by the police. If you drive off while being interrogated by the police and you put the officer's life in danger, you could end up losing your life. Your opinion that the police could jump out of the way or the license of the vehicle could be taken is neither here nor there. It is the policeman who will have to make that decision in a split second.

The rule of thumb is, when accosted by the police, obey the instructions of the police. Fight for your rights in court, not on the street, because you could end up being dead right!

Those who have ears to hear, let them hear. Those hotheaded people should think of giving up their driver's license because they should not be on the street. Taxi drivers remember that the road is for all drivers and not just taxi drivers.

Finally, there is plenty of noise out there, but remember this: the majority might have the right, but the majority is not necessarily right. The court will decide on the facts and not on public opinion. The public trial is a complete waste of time.

Customs And Border Control Officer Charged

Customs and Border Control officer Shammar Gordon Cummings is facing allegations of misconduct after he was charged alongside four others with conspiring to import firearms, ammunition, and a controlled drug into the Cayman Islands.

The defendants appeared before the Grand Court on Friday, where the court heard that Cummings faces a single count of misconduct in a public office. He is jointly charged with four others—Zulecia Aurora Dilone Mambru, Douglas Omar Hurston, Jorge Escobar-Murillo, and Jeffrey Seymour Fernandez—on counts including conspiracy to import firearms, conspiracy to import ammunition, and conspiracy to import a controlled drug.

Indecent Exposure

Residents of the Cayman Islands are raising alarm after a man was spotted exposing himself and fondling his genitals at a popular public beach Monday morning, the latest in a string of reported incidents dating back to at least December of last year. Despite multiple police reports, a formal complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman, and the case being formally closed just weeks ago, the man remains unidentified and at large.

The most recent incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. Monday at the bottom of the stairs at Jack's Bar, where a woman encountered the man with his penis exposed. In a post to the Facebook group Women in Cayman, she described confronting him directly.

“I asked what he was doing and he said he didn't realise I was there,” she wrote. “He said he was picking sand off it when in fact he looked like he was admiring it. I said I don't care if I was or wasn't, this is wrong in every shape and form.”

The organization said this marks a significant step in its ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and the creation of a modern police service.

Jamaica Heading To Join Haiti In The Trenches?

Our country is in a serious moral crisis, and this will continue to affect all aspects of national life. We are not sure who we are, and adults and children don't seem to know what they are working towards. We notice the Chinese and their culture of hard work, the Japanese and their efforts to have a cleaner environment, and the Americans who talk about the "American Dream." What is the vision of Jamaicans? What are we inculcating in our young people? 

Is Jamaica all about drinking, smoking cigarettes, smoking ganja, sex, having plenty of women, women looking for men to provide for them, and attending all the dancehall and carnival parties? Is that the Jamaica we are building?

You will notice that our leaders don't seem to think much of us either. Our leaders do not address these issues. It is all about removing one side because they are corrupt. But will things change when we change our leaders? Our leaders are more concerned about themselves than about the interests of the people.

The following are some areas I have identified where we are falling short.

• Disappearance of our moral compass.
• Lack of respect for authority.
• Support for evil things.
• Disappearance of our Jamaican culture.

Disappearance of Our Moral Compass

We now live in a society where there is not much concern for what is wrong and what is right. We push out figures about police killings and forget about the killings in society. Our women seem to have lost pride in themselves, and all a man has to say to her is, "Come ya gal." It seems that more men are also looking at other men to take care of them. Many women are no longer interested in family life, and their focus is on their career and making money.

Lack Of Respect For Authority

Generally, there is a lack of respect for authority. Management at the workplace cannot direct us. If they do, the response is, "Dem a fight dung di workers."

When I was a youngster, I could not disrespect a senior community member. Now, students have no respect for teachers and school principals. The system seems to have stripped teachers and principals of the authority they had before.

In the House of Parliament, we continue to disrespect and refuse to follow the directives of the Speaker of the House. We might not agree with some of the directives of our leaders, but being disruptive and playing to the gallery is not the way to go.

Support For Evil Things

At various levels in society, there is support for evil things and evil people. We seem to be more concerned about the rights of criminals than we are about the rights of victims and good citizens.

Whenever there is a confrontation between citizens and police officers, we jump to tear down the whole police force. I cannot recall there being any demonstrations for a policeman who was taken down by criminals. Yet, when a suspected criminal is killed, allegedly in a confrontation with the police, we hear how this man was a good, hardworking man and how he is innocent.

Preserving Our Culture

The talk these days is about preserving our culture. The emphasis is usually on dancehall and speaking patois. Whether we like it or not, some aspect of dancehall culture and mentality is bringing us to our knees.

We have selectively picked out a few things and called them part of our culture. Have we thought about the fact that many of our national foods and ways of cooking them have disappeared? Our diet is killing off our people and putting stress on the medical system.

Since we are so strong on culture these days, we should come up with a comprehensive policy on sustaining our great Jamaican culture.

Conclusion

As a people, we are more about hype and pure talk and very little action. Who will help us to change course? Who will ensure that there is prosperity? My final question is, "Are the people ready to build a great nation?

My concern is that if I had written a juicy piece of gossip discussing other people's business, blasting the politicians, and tearing down the police force, then I would get thousands of comments. Who cares? Mark my words, if we don't care, we will be joining Haiti in the trenches soon, and we could become another Sudan in the Caribbean.
