Ensom City Flooding

The residents of Ensom Ciry in St. Catherine, have written and spoken to myself and their political leaders about flooding and the sewage problems in that area. This weekend I received the following email from Raymond Brown, the President of the Ensom City Community Development Committee:

Good evening Sir,

I am Raymond Brown the president of the Ensom CDC Spanish Town. We have been making request to our Councillor George Moodie and our mayor to seriously address a long standing flooding problem with our town gully, with limited success. We have raw sewage from the Eltham treatment plant, dumping issue as well, soil erosion and overgrown vegetation that constantly block this critical drain to the Rio Cobre river.

The parish council In 2016 did some critical dredging and in 2018  cleaned some of the embankment but other critical areas still needed to be attended to. We have been begging for some of the mitigation funds to be used in this area and not sure what is happening. What we are sure of is that flooding has reoccured swamping some cars and the residents are again enraged.

The MP, councillor and the mayor all have agreed on the seriousness of the issue but ungent action is now needed. We are asking for you to use your medium to give some attention to our urgent situation.

Sincerely
Raymond Brown.

Note: When government agencies do carry out their responsibilities then the government get blamed.
