Hampton Road in Manchester Needs to be Fixed

Good Day Mr. Derby:

I finally got a chance to write you about my concern regarding the condition of the road in Manchester Porus P O. The specific road is Hampton Road that leads to Mandeville. The entrance of Hampton Road leading up to the pumping station has been in a deplorable condition for more than 10 years. The National Water Authority uses this entrance on a daily basis going back and forth collecting water for distribution throughout the smaller districts in Manchester.  Hampton Road pumping station is the hub for water distribution in Manchester.

The heavy-duty trailers have inflicted serious damage to the roads by going back and forth daily collecting water.  The residents in the District of Hampton Road have been asking the authorities including the politicians and water officials to fix the road to make it safe for them.   The potholes are unsafe for walking and also for drivers who need to navigate this road on a regular basis.  The residents have demonstrated using civil disobedience but nothing seems to work or get the attention of the anyone in charge of fixing the problem.

The local representative for the area is Ms. Claudia Morant –Baker (JLP) and the MP is Mr. Michael Stewart (PNP).  Politics sometimes gets in the way of progress but I hope we can move beyond that and get things done for the residents of the community.

I hope you are able to contact the correct individuals, speak with them about this matter because it is important that the road get fixed once and for all.  I have heard you speak to the water commissioner many times and have gotten his attention.  I also know you might be able to speak to the local politicians and MP to see what they can do.

Again, thank you for your service and civic duty. God bless you and continue your good work on behalf of the citizens of Jamaica especially Hampton Road Porus P.O.  Manchester Jamaica.
