Accident In Spanish Town

There was a motor vehicle accident at Fairview Boulevard in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica. A pedestrian has died. The driver of the vehicle  has been transferred to the nearby hospital. There is concern that with the pressure on the health system at this time due to Covid-19, the nearby hospital might not be able to accommodate the driver.

A JPSCo light post is now down and there is no electricity in the area. JPS has been advised of the loss of power in the area.

This accident occurred a few minutes ago.

Persons in the area have commented that the driver does not have a license and the car was driven away from a garage.

Note: It is very important that persons drive carefully on our roads at this time because it is possible that you could go to a hospital and the medical staff are not able to treat you in a timely manner. This is due to the health sector being overwhelmed at this time. Citizens need to be careful and try to be safe at this time. This should include following the Covid-19 protocols.

Persons are also advised to be respectful to our medical staff especially because they are now working under a very stressful situation.
