Perkins Boulevard Is Not A Dump Site!

Persons continue to dump garbage at the side of the road on Perkins Boulevard. These persons continue to do this because they can do it and get away with it. Those who are in charge need to have a system where citizens can take pictures of the dumping and tickets can be issued for this illegal dumping based on the information given.

The CyberWorld

Since the 1980's we have seen the rapid development of computers. We have laptops, desktops, Ipads, smart phones and other gadgets. We now talk about the Internet and also the Intranet. Under the Cyber Crime Act, 2015 we are not only talking about computers but also the World Wide Web referred to as www. The act is not just about gadgets but anything which involves a network of computers. Sometimes you hear persons refer to the local area network or LAN, or the wide area network, referred to as WAN.

I spoke to an officer of the JCF recently and he said that many of us have heard about Google which is located in the USA. When we are connected to Google he said, then all the computers which are linking to Google, are on this super highway.

Because all these computers are linked, person can get into your system and if your system and/or your computer does not have a good firewall, it means persons can break into the system. Think of  the firewall like a grill on your house which prevents robbers from getting into your house. Well the firewall does the same thing for your computer in terms of keeping out hackers. Persons write these programmes called malware which can corrupt your system if your system is not properly protected. The first thing you need is a good computer antivirus programme which you should always keep updated, make sure that your passwords are secure, ensure that confidential information is only transmitted to secure sites, do not open suspicious emails and do not visit sites that you are not aware of. I should point out that many of these pornographic sites can infect your system with malwares.

We should understand that if you go on a vehicle and you do not get a ticket, then you could have a challenge proving that you travelled on the vehicle if you are injured in an accident.

Note also that persons sometimes carry friends and neighbours and these friends and neighbours give what some of us call a little 'smalls' to the drier. This could put the driver in conflict with the law since it could be held in a court of law that the driver was carrying passengers without the appropriate licenses.
