Michigan From The Duo Michigan & Smiley With A New Hit

Papa Michigan and Smiley were household names in Jamaica in the past. The duo sent the Jamaican people wild with their smashing hit 'Diseases' many years ago.

Michigan now has another hit which surprisingly, did not make it to the top 12 in the Festival Song Competition this year. A fan sent the music to me and said, "Vernon this is a hit". The song is called 'Wi Number One'. 

Michigan whose real name is Anthony Fairclough was born in Kingston and some of his children are also into the music business. Michigan is a producer, musician and a song writer. Being the versatile person that he is, he also gets involved in the engineering side of the business and he also harmonizes.

Students of Allman Town Primary, Kingston High and Tivoli High (schools that this outstanding artiste has attended), will be proud of this talented Jamaican. I asked him about not hearing much from him these days in the music business and he tells me that he has a few albums in the market. Michigan has been touring quite a bit over a number of years and therefore we have not seen him often enough in Jamaica.

Michigan is concerned that the music industry has gone into the hands of many unprofessional persons, but he says that there is still plenty creativity in the industry.

This Jamaican reggae artiste has been around for quite some time but he still has that youthful look and his female fans especially, adore him.
