Talk Yu Talk With Charlton McFarlane - RGD Head

Charlton McFarlane
CEO, RGD

Today it was an excellent show with the Head of the RGD, Mr. Charlton McFarlane. He told us of the great strides the RGD has made over the years and some of the challenges persons have with doing late registration. He explained that the agency is thorough when doing a late when making a late registration. He recalled a case when someone complained to a radio station about the difficulties that they were having with late registration. Checks revealed that something had not given the real reason for attempting a late registration.

Other broadcasters have started to get into consumer advocacy in broadcasting. These broadcasters have gone down the road of blaming agencies rather than realizing that sometimes people are just trying to beat the system.

I made the following suggestions to the RGD head, and he has promised to bring the matter to the attention of the policy-makers.

  1. Pregnancies should be registered:
  2. The law should require a mother to indicate for the records the father or possible father of her child.
  3. Each newborn should be uniquely identified.
  4. The name of the child's parents should be linked by the parents' identification numbers, and this would eliminate spelling errors.
  5. Wills should be registered with the RGD. The will should be withdrawn from the RGD before a new will can be made.

A listener's response to the show with Mr. Charlton McFarlane:
