Omar Sweeney Head of JSIF - Special Guest on SpotOn

Omar Sweeny CD
My special guest for Be My Guest during SpotOn on Riddim FM, on Monday, July 3, will be Mr. Omar Sweeney. SpotOn is aired on Riddim FM Monday to Friday from 1000 to 1300 hours EST.

Omar Sweeney is the Managing Director at the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), a lead project management arm for the Government of Jamaica.  He has portfolio responsibility for the execution of several impactful social intervention and infrastructure projects within underserved, and vulnerable communities across Jamaica.

Before his appointment at JSIF, Mr. Sweeney served in senior leadership roles at the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) and the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ).

Mr. Sweeney also serves as the Deputy Chairman to the Prime Minister of Jamaica for the Zones Of Special Operations (also referred to as ZOSO) in Jamaica.

Brenda Brown

Brenda Brown a Jamaican living overseas and who is visiting Jamaica, will join me at 1020 hours during Talk Yu Talk. She will give her views and experience on the level of consumer service in Jamaica.

Brenda is from Westmoreland and she attended St. Elizabeth Technical High School. She then went on to study Institutional Management at CAST which is now called UTech Ja. She taught for 10 years in Jamaican and then migrated to the USA. She worked as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant for twenty-six years in the USA. Brenda is now retired, and she spends her time doing community work through her church.

During her many visits to Jamaica, Brenda has noted the poor customer service that exists in her country of birth.

Nadine Williams
It's a Monday and it's Consumer Prices on a Monday when Nadine Williams and Anthony Gayle will join me to give us feedback from the farmers and also to give us the prices that were obtained for agricultural products at the Coronation Market in Kingston.

The price of yams has been increasing significantly over the past few months as the export market continues to demand more yams.

The prices of a few agricultural products like yams, will continue to rise. Nadine pointed out that consumers can get some foreign products cheaper than those obtained in Jamaica.

NEWS FLASH

I just got information from a very reliable source stating that a man who attacked a lady in Mandeville on Friday, June 30, and attempted to rob her, was accosted by a policeman who had to terminate the attacker's life. The attacker apparently intended to terminate the life of his intended victim as he attempted to stab her a few times. Based on my information, the police must be congratulated for acting swiftly and not missing the target. I am inviting the friends and relatives of that lady to WhatsApp me and let me know how they feel about the action of the quick-thinking police officer. My number is 876 816-5261.
