| National Hero - Marcus Mosiah Garvey |
I have received a few complaints that National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey's birthday was not recognized yesterday. The JCDC (Jamaica Cultural Development Commission) usually organize an event to mark his birthday. I will forward this blog to the Executive Director for the JCDC, Mr Lenford Salmon for his comment.
Jamaicans should not wait on the government to organize events to commemorate the hero's birthday. I would expect groups such as the Rastafarian movement and others to organize their own events.
Let me know if you are aware of any organization which commemorated National Hero Marcus Garvey's birthday yesterday. Thanks.

I hang my head in shame for not remembering his birthday. I can't even console myself and attribute this lapse of memory to old age. So, i tender my sincere apologies to our National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey, and to those persons who look to me to remind them.
