On November 18, 2024, Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officer Constable Waeyvel Phillips was placed before the St. James Parish Court, where he was charged with the offences of murder and making use of a firearm to commit a felony contrary to Section 25(1) of the Firearms Act 1967. The charge is as a result of a completed investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and a submission to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for ruling.Constable Phillips was taken into custody on his return to Jamaica, seven months after the ruling of the ODPP.
Constable Phillips was charged in relation to the May 13, 2022, off-duty fatal shooting of 33-year-old Kadmar Beadle at a bar at Jarett Street in Montego Bay, St. James.
Constable Phillips was granted bail in the sum of $400,000.00 with one to three sureties and reporting conditions. The next court date is scheduled for December 4, 2024.

Yawn....will take 14 years to go to trial...files will go missing....technicalities will arise....jurors will not be found.. the judge will eventually dismiss the case ...selah

DeleteFrankly in jamaica the most efficient part of our country are church houses....guest houses an ded house....anything di state touch is pop dung an wreck....I left out kings house as dat one control by the real ole g and bakra masta....lol
ReplyDeleteThat is why it is best that the government sticks to being the referee and does not get directly involved in operational manners except when such activities are important for the functioning of the whole country, such as education, health, transportation and maintaining law and order.
