Richard Thompson - Actg. Head of ODPEM

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has given the ‘All Clear’ to the public following the passage of Tropical Storm Rafael. The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has also discontinued the Flash Flood Warning and Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas across the island.

There are currently three (3) shelters opened across Kingston and St. Andrew, Clarendon and  Westmoreland with a total number of 46 persons. The shelter in St. Thomas has been deactivated.

The country is asked to stay alert as unstable weather, which include showers and thunderstorms which could lead to flooding in some areas given the level of ground saturation, is expected for the next few days.

The ODPEM will continue to monitor the situation.
