Everton 'Peso' Pessoa, the musical virtuoso from Kingston, Jamaica, the country where you find some of the world's most talented singers and musicians. The versatile musician is a singer, songwriter, producer, music teacher, and an accomplished trombonist. Earlier this year, Peso put on a show called 'Musical Excellence'.
Peso was baptized in music as a young member of the church choir. He sang tenor and played the drums. Vincent Hawthorne, his high school teacher and mentor, guided him in honing his natural musical skills.
The news of Pesos skills and talents spread like wildfire in the business. His passport is decorated with the stamps from the immigration offers who have admitted him to play in various countries. The news about his skills and mastery of the trombone also started to spread like wildfire. Pesso now the lead singer for the Abyssinians Band and the Bare Essentials Band.
This talented Jamaican is known to use his voice to reach a climax with the audience with his melodious baritone voice. He then titillates his audience's musical taste buds by displaying his versatility on the trombone.
News of Peso’s mastery of the trombone became well-known in the musical arena when he toured with some of the world’s big bands.
Peso has travelled internationally and performed with Soca King Arrow, Justin Hinds, and The Burning Spear. Locally, he is in demand to perform at cabaret shows, corporate functions, and weddings.
Many of us will recall that Peso put some fire into The Festival Song Competition in 2011. He walked away from the stage as the winner and the people's choice. His song, 'Oh If We', rocked Jamaica that year.
Everton 'Peso' Pessoa, introduced his Big Band at Jazz in the Gardens earlier this year, and the audience would not allow him to leave the stage. The organizers promised that Peso and his Big Band would be back, and they are back to rock Jazz in the Gardens with their pulsating rhythms as they give us a musical history lesson. They might take us from ska to rocksteady to jazz and reggae. The Big Band includes Hopeton Williams on trumpet, Vivian Scott on trumpet, Andre Campbell on trumpet, Everald Gayle on trombone, Jeffery Brown on saxophone and Kevon Barnes on vocal.
The star-studded lineup also features the legendary Fab 5 Band, Gem Myers, Bunny Rose, Tammi T, and Soulchild Taniece. The evening event will be hosted by Vernon Derby, a multi-talented radio personality, actor, and blogger.
