Our Ancestors Cannot be Proud of Us When We Have Allowed Criminals To Control Us!

Corporal Christopher Smith

Gunmen killed a police officer, Corporal Christopher Smith, on Beechwood Avenue in St Andrew on Friday, December 6. Corporal Smith was assigned, to the Kingston Western police division.

The terrorists have no intention to stop their reign of terror, on society. I am convinced that too many of us are supporting these evil people, and we are quick to tear down those who sacrifice their lives to protect us rather than turn against the criminals. These criminals don't live in caves in remote areas.

We need an Anti-terrorist Act to deal with these homegrown terrorists who are terrorising society.

The police need to identify those who are a menace to the safety and security of society. We need a system where a court order is required to have these people report to the police. Terrorists who fall to report to the police should be treated as enemies of the state.

The names and pictures of terrorists should be published in booklet form, and distributed nationally. Their pictures should be posted on the Internet so we will all get to know them. Anyone who harbours terrorists or facilitates any activity with or for these terrorists should face very serious consequences.

The state must do all possible to remove these persons from the society. We need to go on a campaign to turn the people against these criminals.

At the same time, we need to look at family life in the country. We should have social workers whose job would to to ensure that children are being socialized properly at home. We need to have a strict code of conduct for all students.

We need to employ more social workers. Jamaica must address all activities which will lead to the poor socialization of our children.

Jamaica has taken too long to deal decisively with these criminals. Jamaica must act now! Consult with the people, get them to unite with the security forces and to take these dutty people out of the society.

It is time for the first murderer in a long time to face the death penalty. What crime did taxpayers commit to be forced to support these dawgs for life? Jamaica must wake up, speak up, and act NOW!

  1. Is there a picture of the criminal who killed the children and attempted to flee the island?

  2. When corruption begins at the head it’s impossible to control. Tax payers money and international grants to improve quality of life for the citizens for the benefit of the community are being siphoned off for personal gains it is impossible for Jamaica to be a better place. Poor education, health care chaos, very bad roads lead high maintenance of vehicles for every day use which is a must for business operations and the list goes on. Nothing to nip the challenges in the bud.

    1. Monies being siphoned off for personal gain? Please share more on this. BTW I agree with Vernon about the need for family life social workers, because many parents are doing a poor job in raising their kids.

    2. Greetings Everyone. Recently a Florida man was arrested for having several guns and bullets in his carry on luggage, apparently because a certain Customs person was off duty at Sangster International Airport. This Florida man must also have had an accomplice at Miami International Airport for him to bypass USA Customs. This apparently is one of the biggest loopholes in the illegal guns trade together with our open borders. If the Jamaican authorities with the FBI and Scotland Yard cannot use this information to help fix the problem of gun crime in Jamaica, dawg nwam we suppa'.

    3. Four intelligent comments! However, things has changed to include politicians have corrupt the people more, today than ever. Even they themselves cannot be trusted, so some in our society emulates their bad behavior. (Dem achop,we a go chop to). Now construction of a modern-day prison in jamaica, and the execution of guilty murderers should be the foremost topic/issue on the agenda of jamaican politicians

Let's look at the construction of a modern-day penal institution. All the government need to do is to put the private sector and other stake holders on notice by having them contribute toward this project, and give them a tax break. You see crime is affecting everyone, but these dilapidated building that are many, many years old need to be replaced, and execution continues.
Finally, politicians are to be blamed fir every murder by guns in Jamaica. Sea and air ports are not technologically protected. CCTV SHALL be installed in every crevice and corners in these building, which will enable transparency and accountability. Wait a minute, and if possible have members if the public along with the security forces assign to these custom officer on a moment notice(rotate these individuals).

    4. Rightly so, the resolution is one that needs to start at the top. It's criminal psychology. Crime is rampant and allowing persons of a certain status or level to escape punishment only empowers the lower level criminals.

They see no inevitable consequences as others have done similarly and have gotten off easily. Students and children are now following because there are no swift and certain punishments. Sad state of affairs.

As citizens, people need to organize themselves and demand better. Not "uncertain" better, but be very specific and direct in stating what changes they want to see to tackle crime at all levels and in all places.

Crime fighting begins with legislation, not on the ground. Enforcement officers can only enforce what is already written in law. Then there is the judicial arm. That's where to some extent the problem lies currently. The court system is a mess. All three need to work in tandem to tackle crime.
Jamaicans are being distracted and are being led to believe the responsibility lies with the common man and woman. Yes, people need to be vigilant and do what they can to protect their lives and properties. Yes, citizens can report criminal acts witnessed, but that's supporting a system already in play.

Our system is tangled wires, what citizens may not yield the optimum outcome all the time if the laws, court and enforcement arms are ineffective.

  3. The killer of the policeman is allegedly from the police division Kingston Western same as the assigned area of the JCF personnel Christopher Smith.

The alleged shooter is also wanted for murder so there we go another serial murderer on the loose.

Laws don't capture criminals you have to do the catching then apply the law.

The catching is wanting as Jamaica is a Criminals Paradise.
If yuh check it di hol a wi a criminal so wi need perhaps to police and arrest ourselves.

A crime is any behaviour that attracts a fine ir imprisonment.
    Do the maths.

  5. Where are the town cryers from justice for jamaicans?
I suppose this police officer is not considered to be a jamaican.
If you are prepared to shoot a police officer, then the officers should do all they can to assist said person to meet with their maker.
By the way, has anyone noticed that everything you do on your smart phone, someone is tracking you.
Could we be looking in the wrong areas to know who are responsible for most of the crime in our country ???

  6. We have been discussing crime & indiscipline i n Jamaica for a while and the leaders and bleeding heart have been going in the wrong direction. Once again look to Singapore solutions in the 80s & 90s - Corporal punishment, death sentence, restorative justice are critical parts of the solution.

  7. We also need to get rid of the criminals in the halls of power!

    1. You first have to identify them, bring charges and have them convicted. I have never received a report from anyone about any political leader who has stolen government funds. You can have kick backs but that is not easy to prove. Political leaders cannot directly make payments to anyone. It is public servants who make payments.

    2. You probably have more corrupt public officials than you do politicians. Ask how many people bribe sumaddy fi get dem driver's licence - a dat time you wi see corruption. The problem with us in this country is that we don't want to take responsibility for where the country is at.

  8. Condolences to the family... jamaicans fail this police man.....we opt out of electing and demanding accountability from our governments....we accept a wrecked and apartheid education system, a decrepit health sector and a minister of national security who will deliver a monotone one gear round of platitudes...these are the crimes of the jamaican taxpayer....wi just start pay di first installment.

  9. Totally agree with your sentiments regarding anti-terrorist legislation with teeth. We cannot continue doing the same old same old and hope for change. We have to be pragmatic. We have to be proactive. We have to let terrorists know that enough is enough.

  10. Far too many people in this country want to put the blame for crime on the heads of politicians only. Certainly they have their fair share of the blame but COME ON PEOPLE. How long do we think we could get away with this fatherless culture and not feel the consequences of it??? How long do we think we could continue to be the country with the highest female-headed households in the world and not reap the negative effects? So many of our young boys are lost and angry and have no clue what it means to be a man.

I have witnessed 1st hand, overburdened and stressed mothers taking out their frustration on their kids and batter bruising their sons. What do we expect people? Politicians must tell wi fi tek care a wi owna pickney dem too??? Dem same pickney weh wi neglect and abuse gu a school go fight off an kill odda people pickney & den dem grow up an tun criminal and commit murder. Full time we realise that we need to do something about the many maladjusted kids/ people in this country and it starts with each of us making a conscious decision to take family values seriously - both mothers AND FATHERS!!!

Additionally, those who can, should consider mentoring some of these wayward kids, cause govament alone caa do everything.
