(CMR) A man admitted to masturbating in public when he appeared before the Summary Court on Tuesday. Christopher Kelvin Ebanks entered his guilty plea to a single charge of publicly doing an indecent act.
The court heard that on November 28, 2024, Ebanks was observed on Newport Avenue in George Town, where he sat on the porch of a private residence and exposed himself while engaging in a lewd act.
Following the guilty plea, the matter was adjourned to allow for the preparation of pre-sentencing reports, including a mental health assessment.
Ebanks is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on March 12, 2025.

I found it interesting that the law classifies masturbation as a lewd act. It is not the act of itself that should be seen as lewd, but doing it in public. I wonder if this man will get a prison sentence and if it would be regarded as a crime. This is an interesting case. What do you think? Some of our dancehall moves could be classified as being lewd. Be careful about doing those lewd dancehall moves with your partner. 😅😅😅

ReplyDeleteSo, will he get a protective order for his genitals to ensure that he cannot abuse them when he is in prison:)? The pu lic nature of the behavior is problematic, I suppose, but masturbation is healthy and should never be criminalized or stigmatized.
