Controversy Between Political Candidates Valenton Wint and Audrey Marks

I am appealing to the candidates to take it easy on the rhetoric. The cass cass, and personal attacks are unnecessary. If you continue to tear down your colleagues, then people will continue to lose respect for our politicians.

Recently Valenton Wint in Northeast Manchester expressed concerns about Audrey Marks' distributing water tanks to her workers in Manchester. Giving water tanks to your workers is a good idea, and other politicians do that. Such benefits should come from the party or the candidate and definitely not taxpayers' money.

Nothing is wrong with giving your party workers something. They will have to be out there facing the heat of the politics, and we know that some have been injured and have lost their lives in the past while doing political work.

If you give money to some careless man dem, they will take it and buy rum. If you give funds to some careless woman dem they will take the money go buy fancy hairstyles, and purchase expensive hair extensions.

A tanks will last many years and will benefit the family. I noticed that Audrey did not back down the way other JLP leaders back down and give excuses when attacked by the PNP. She responded strongly and indicated that it was her personal funds and she had to take care of her worker first. Yes, distribute tanks, not guns, which persons have said a few politicians have distributed in the past. This has never been proven as far as I know.

I hope to see Audrey, who I have worked with before, and Mr. Wint, whose relatives attended school with me. I look forward to seeing them both when I go to Manchester to be the guest speaker at the Christiana High School graduation on on July 2, at the Kendal Conference Centre.

Prime Minister Could Announce Election Date Soon

I get the feeling that the PM will announce the elections this weekend or early next week. Is it possible that the date could be in December? I hardly think the PM will wait that long.

Policeman Killed His Girlfriend

I received a report that a policeman killed his girlfriend Wednesday night in Essex in Richmond, St. Mary. The person making the report says that the policeman attempted suicide. He is now in the Annotto Bay hospital.

Cruise Ship Passenger Suffered Injuries After Fall on Damaged Pavement

A passenger who came off a cruise ship in Ocho Rios recently ended up not enjoying her visit to Jamaica after she encountered a damaged sidewalk and fell.

She is now back in the United States of America and has to be seeking treatment from a specialist.

The Hon. Edmund Bartlett cannot spend hours enticing tourists to visit us, and it is not even safe to walk on a walkway. That damaged area cannot cost more than a few hundred dollars to be fixed. This lady could have fallen and hit the back of her head. The injury could have been fatal. It is possible that she might end up with back and other challenges.

I understand that a few persons have fallen at that spot, and it has not been fixed. We need to fix that sidewalk now.
