You get rid of the gangs today, and the criminal factory will replace them tomorrow. We have to change the society from one that produces criminals to one that produces civic-minded, loving people who are ready to build a great country.
Have a look at the videos below and take a peek into the future of Jamaica.
Is this a case of an enraged police officer? I know that cyclists are a nuisance on the roads, but this is not the way to deal with the situation.
What type of fight is this? What are they fighting for? Your guess is as good as mine. All I can tell you is that each time I get these pictures, I am convinced that our mental state is at a crisis level.
I get numerous heartbreaking videos weekly. Jamaica has spent significant resources dealing with the economy. Now is the time to fix the people problem. Steps need to be taken to close down this criminal factory. Yes, Jamaica is a criminal factory.
We need social workers to be assigned to all communities across the island. Their main focus would be to ensure that children are brought up to respect authority, understand their civic duties, and live in homes where they can get proper guidance, training, and healthy nutrition.
Let us put a system in place to take corrective measures to deal with challenges from pre-primary and primary school students. If, for example, the parents are on drugs, then the children should be removed from such homes. Interventions should be put in place to deal with children having physical, mental, or behavioural challenges.
Parents should be liable for the actions of their children, unless they can prove that they cannot manage their children. In that case, the child should be taken into state care. Persons who are on drugs, mentally unstable, or just not in a position to grow and maintain children, should be dissuaded from having more children.
We need a national code for all students, and breaches of these codes could mean penalties and/or students going through a period of rehabilitation. A teacher should be given the authority to direct students, and the failure of students to follow the command of a teacher should be seen in the same light as when a police officer gives a civilian certain directions. Any student who verbally or physically abuses a member of the school community, that student should be removed from the school community.
We talk about Singapore and other countries that are doing well, but we cannot do well when our people are not properly socialized. We do what we want to do and get away with it in Jamaica. Some of us feel that we should allow students to turn up at any time to attend classes, and the school should accept them. This must stop.
You accumulate all the knowledge one can accumulate, and if you lack certain skills and attitudes, you will be of no use to your country.
I am ready to work with a team of people to build a programme for the proper socialization of all young people. I learned a lot leading the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme in Jamaica for young people, and we can develop a Jamaican programme to do just that.
It is time to fix the people, and this will fix the country.
Please add your comments saying how we can make Jamaica a better place for you and for me. Thanks.

If you managed to close down the Crime Industry the economy collapses as the illigitimate and legitimate at best would be severely damaged.
ReplyDeleteA crime is any behaviour that attracts a fine or imprisonment.
Fact therefore is that most Jamaicans are criminals with no exemptions from Parliament to poor house.
Drive 31 mph in a 30 mile zone
I am sure you have observed alleged criminals speeding up to 80 mph on Half Way Tree Rd ,Old Hope Rd,Bogue Rd or Runaway Bay.
In any industry that thrives factories are highly productive.
We need to teach our children the right thing and don't allow them to be taught by foreigners who are feathering their opinionson our society
