NWA - National Wutless Agency!

We oftentimes blame drivers for speeding on our roads, which results in accidents. The silence is deafening, though, when an accident may be due to the condition of the road.

The video in this blog shows a breakaway on the road, which caused this unsuspecting driver to go over the side of the road.

In this day and age, when we have a breakaway at the side of the road, why do we put up a few sticks to alert the motorists? We also put the branches of trees in large potholes.

I suggest that we use solar flashing lights attached to light posts to alert unsuspecting motorists of danger ahead.  We could also purchase text signs with lighted text giving information. For large potholes, we could put some small circular tubes around them and paint the tubes with reflective paint. The best practice would be to fix the pinholes before they become sinkholes. This must be less costly. Hopefully, we don't need a prime ministerial directive for this to be done.

NWA let us think creatively. I am sure you have better ideas.

Probably the NWA has become a large bureaucratic organization unable to deal with the challenges on our roads across Jamaica. Why not leave road maintenance to the parish councils? This system worked well before. The NWA has become the National Wutless Agency.

If my ideas do not make sense, please note that I am not an engineer. The engineers are at the NWA. In the meantime, the motorists continue to pay dearly for motor vehicle repairs due to our poorly maintained roads.

What do you think? Add your comments at the bottom of the blog.

    1. The blog was not about having pretty roads; it is about having appropriate signs placed to warn drivers of dangers
