I am convinced that there is an effective group of persons, especially overseas, who do not like Jamaica. This is evidenced by the increase in nasty social media messages being posted daily.
Some of these posts would upset the stomach of a crocodile. The language used to describe Mrs Holness, for example, is the type of language one would have to dig deep in a toilet pit to come up with. My concern is that these comments are intended to stir up an anti-Jamaican sentiment, which will cause more suffering for people, especially at this time of devastation.
When satanic persons are going to tell people not to send money to assist Jamaicans because the government will steal it, it is the people who will suffer more. It is the government that will have to build back schools, roads, and hospitals and fix the water mains. Please note that the Auditor General is now reviewing the systems of how funds and benefits are handled. I have no doubt that some things will disappear into thin air, but the majority of the people will benefit. If they find one thief, I hope that thief gets a life sentence and a few lashes.
Since Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, there is now a Category 5 anti-Darly Vaz campaign. I have no problem with people being anti-Vaz, but I have a problem with those who have no respect for the truth, especially if you work in the media.
There is this case of a plane that crashed in Florida yesterday. Reports are that the pilot and his daughter were taking hurricane supplies to Jamaica. One newspaper reported that Mr. Daryl Vaz said the plane was not given permission to land in Jamaica. That was enough to wake up the African bees, who called down judgement on Mr. Vaz. Mr. Vaz showed no empathy, many said. Many called on others not to ship anything else to Jamaica. One person said to me, "Mek di whole a dem dung dey dead fi hungry." Our country might have been devastated, but our integrity is still intact. Neither the PNP nor the JLP leader is a convicted criminal.
