Breaking News - Citizen Reports Illegal Search To Public Defender.
A citizen in Mandeville has made a formal report to the public defender about police officers waking his family at about 5:00 am to conduct a search. No warrant was initially presented, and when he asked for the warrant, they showed him a warrant that did not have his name or the name of any family member on it.
Copies of the report have also been sent to the Commissioner of Police and the Minister of National Security.
More Media Houses Facing Financial Challenges
Another media house is facing serious financial challenges. Their sales staff have been threatened to make the target, or else .....
Media houses should understand that if you are not putting out material that interests their audience and if they also do not have talented and creative people at the station, then you will have a major challenge.
A radio or a television station is not a manufacturing company. Your hosts are your product and your stars, and you should try to keep your good hosts for a long time. Your sales staff must feel motivated to market your radio hosts and your program content.
Another media house has had the creditors at its gate and a utility company threatening to terminate its service to the company.
NSWMA
I am getting more information about the NSWMA. I understand that the head of one department got someone assigned to her department, and she is totally against that person joining the department. Part of the problem with Jamaica is that we keep on coming up with so many rules to minimize corruption that we are making the system grind to a halt. Management must be given the free hand to employ people who can assist in achieving their goals, whether they have one subject or a PhD.
I am not aware of any tertiary institution equipping persons to work with the NSWMA. The accounting department is probably one exception. An MA in chemistry does not equip you more to work in the NSWMA than someone with a few CXCs.
I do hope that if you have a competent person to do the job at NSWMA, we don't go searching for people with degrees to put them over those persons. That can be demotivating to the workforce.
The Office Of The Public Defender
We have a public defender but no office. It took me the whole of this morning to find out that the office was being moved. The phones were not working. When I eventually found a staff member, she told me that the phone lines were working, but they are down at this time. I remarked that if the lines are down, they are not working.
If an office is about to move, then you should put the information in a conspicuous position on your web page. Indicate that your lines are not available and have a cell phone for taking calls in the meantime. You should also send out a press release advising the public.
So far, I have found their staff very helpful.
Meeting Some Sweet Ladies
On Friday I was at MegaMart with people rushing you as usual to get to the cashier. You know I don't allow anyone to be close to me when I am doing my transaction. The lady behind me was getting very impatient. When we reached outside, there was a heavy shower of rain. I remarked that we should tell God to hurry up and stop the rain. The lady who was rushing me inside was not amused.
A very beautiful lady who was going to shop saw me in my predicament, like the others, not being able to get to our cars. She opened her umbrella and offered to walk me to my car. Yes, that sweet, stately-looking lady is Jhonell Crawford.
Today, I tried desperately to get to the Office Of The Public Defender. I was told that the office is now at the UDC building. I called the UDC, and the charming receptionist, Simonne Gettshalk, offered to make contact with someone who works at the Office of the Public Defender. She did make contact for me. Two lovely ladies: Jhonell Crawford and Simonne Gettshalk. It is not easy to find sweet ladies these days who are willing to help.
Watch Those Social Media People Who Expound Hate Speech
I have been seeing significant hate speech targeting the prime minister on social media. The security forces need to keep a tab on these persons. You never know when these people will take violent action against the prime minister and other leaders.
We tend to mimic what happens up north. It is only a matter of time before we have an attempted assassination or an assassination in Jamaica.

That's not right👹
ReplyDeleteYou did not say what is not right.
DeleteMore times in Jamaica the rights of citizens have been violated but very few citizens are even aware that they can at least try to stand for their rights, if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything
ReplyDeleteThese criminals in jcf uniforms need to be held accountable for there mistreatment to our law-abiding citizens
ReplyDeleteI have nothing against the police but have a very a big problem with "BAD" Policing
ReplyDeleteIsn't that all we have, BAD policing? If there were consequences, this practice would have stopped a long time ago. Apparently, they have the support of those in higher positions, and this is obvious. Citizens need to demand better. Some police cover their police numbers. Their surnames should be on their uniforms, and people need to start memorizing and recording them, so they can use them when making a report. People also need to be careful when making reports, as the ones you're reporting to can put your life at risk. The system is rigged.
DeleteSo you are putting fear into the hearts of those who need to make a report? How do you expect the system to change? There are many good people who do not support what is wrong. Probably that is why I am still alive.
DeleteI'm really pleased to hear that my cousin is escalating this matter. He - and the law-abiding Jamaican majority - deserve a police service that protects and serves them with honour, distinction and professionalism. And not a bunch of unaccountable cowboy cops...
ReplyDeleteOn the matter of degrees and the NSWMA, yes, degrees in related areas are necessary for some positions. This goes for any entity. Degrees heavy on management are ideal, for key positions. This is standard.
ReplyDeleteI agree that communication skills are very young in the public service. Moving such an important agency should have been published for weeks prior. But, it is the custom now. Half of these entities don't have a working phone number. The public must be updated on any changes to channels of contact. Sign of poor management.
The PM is a public figure and is not above criticism. There is nothing wrong with freedom of expression; it is a democratic society. Why do we want to pick and choose what democratic right we want to approve or disapprove? As long as they're not breaking the law.
All these happenings reveal the many changes in demand within the society. These are symptoms of systemic issues. Now, they need addressing.
Freedom of speech means also we must be responsible. Putting up posts promoting violence means we need to monitor these people and take action against them. We have freedom of speech not freedom to libel others.
DeleteAm happy to know you are doing all you can to hold the jcf to account, maybe one day your action would have helped to make that difference in the force
ReplyDeleteSo the phones are working but they’re down now, aye sah!
ReplyDeleteWrong name wrong address for crying out loud thats what the JCF driving around with this needs proper investigation
ReplyDeleteIf we all stay silent on these matters we will inherently help bad policing to become widespread.
