Breaking News - Bobby Wine Detained!

Bobby Wine

International singer and politician in Uganda, Bobby Wine, has been taken away by a military helicopter to an unknown location, one international press has reported.  His real name is Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, a musician, activist, and president of the National Unity Platform in Uganda.

Bobby Wine has performed in Jamaica as a singer.

A few hours ago, Bobi Wine posted this on his Facebook page.

Wilmoth Smith, from Lowe River, Trelawny, and who was residing in the US, died on January 10, 2026.

The body can be viewed on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 1800 to 2000 hours EST. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 1000 hours EST.

Medical Staff At Cornwall Regional Hospital Involved In Demonstration

I understand that medical personnel at the Cornwall Regional Hospital are demonstrating due to the increased workload.

This workload has increased significantly since Hurricane Melissa. 

I am wondering if this is the way to go since we have been in a worse situation since Hurrine Melissa.

Since many of the clinics have been damaged, is it possible that tent clinics can be set up in the various areas or at the Cornwall Hospital, and the staff work from these clinics?

I cannot understand why the system has to be disrupted. Patients and members of the medical profession should understand these are not normal times. The board must communicate with all stakeholders and work on a solution. Locking down the system while the people suffer cannot be a solution.

Her Bed Was A Wheelchair For The Night at The Hospital

Can you imagine that a lady who has passed her ninety years had to sit in a wheelchair for a whole night due to space problems at the hospital? The hospital resources and the staff are also under pressure.

I appeal to friends and relatives to be understanding of the situation, which has been aggravated since Hurricane Melissa. I appeal to the management of the hospitals to make public appeals for help, and I am sure that you will get it. We probably need some more tents where patients can be held temporarily.

Can you imagine this old lady in that position for a whole night? She could have developed other complications.

Bark Di Trute has been warning green card holders in the US to get their citizenship. Immigration visa processing has been put on hold. Note that if green card holders commit a simple offence, they can be charged and deported from the US.

A Bark Di Trute supporter says the license is PK3341. Let's see if this matter will be investigated. If it is the driver's fault, will his license be suspended for at least one year? Too Much Bandoolu Business a Gwane An Wi Blame Di Politician Dem Far it!

Many Jamaicans have been sending me messages about the Auditor General's report on the University Hospital of the West Indies.  Can you imagine that no documentation has been found for contracts valued at JAD521 million. I said to myself, "A mussi dream mi a dream". 

I have said it before that the Integrity Commission is a bureaucratic organization, and its only useful purpose is to collect taxes from public servants and politicians and create political fodder that is very useful during election periods. 

We need to strengthen the Auditor General's department and strengthen the role of the Auditor General. There is no need for the Integrity Commission. The auditor general's department should be modernized and have an increased staff complement so that all departments can be audited regularly. The auditor general's department should be able to audit all government departments at least once every two years. Each board should have an audit board sub-committee, and this committee should review the internal audit report and the activities of the audit department. The internal audit department head should report to the board and the Auditor General's department.

Many of these things are required but not done. If they are not done, then the law should have serious sanctions to deal with the situation. Imagine you can have a department that has not presented to parliament audited financial reports for many years. The CEO of that entity should be sanctioned and relieved of his or her post immediately.

Good afternoon Mr Darby. Can you believe that the University Hospital doubled their registration fees? First time visit was $2500,that's moves to $5000. Follow up visit was $1200, now it is $3000.

I have two appointments for today. I was expecting to pay $2400, I have to pay $6000.

What we domestic helpers and low income earners are  going to do Mr Darby?

Jamaicans should not get sick at this time.  There is a car park for which they are charging visitors and outpatients exorbitant fees to park their vehicles at the UHWI. I wonder if those fees are being audited. 

They need to get some handcart guys to take the patients and visitors from the car park to the various destinations. Poor people need to eat a food too. I am sure those who collect the funds at the hospital are singing the song,
