The following release regarding the PNP was sent out by Mr. Floyd Morris. Basically the release is saying that various leaders in the organization has endorsed The Most Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller as leader of the party. The question is, how much damage has already been done which will affect the possibility of her being Prime Minister in the new future.
Various reports of the distribution of campaign funds has been rocking the PNP. In the past there has been other scands such as the Trafigura and the cuban light bulb scandal, Many are calling for the PNP leader to resign.

President of the People’s National Party, Most Hon. Portia Simpson
Miller, received overwhelming endorsements from the Regional leadership and the
arms and affiliates of leadership of the
party yesterday.
In a specially arranged conversation with
the leadership and arms and affiliates of the PNP yesterday afternoon, members
of the PNP gave glowing endorsements to the leader, the Most Hon. Portia
Simpson Miller.
Leaders of the six (6) regions that make up
the 78 year old political organization, pledged their full support for the
distinguished comrade who has served the PNP for over 40 years.
Dr. Dayton Campbell (Chairman of Region 1),
Dr. Morais Guy (Chairman of Region 2), Norman Perry (Vice Chairman of Region 3),
Denise Daley (Chairman of Region 4), Mikael Phillips (Chairman of Region 5) and
Luther Buchanan (representing Region 6), all committed their region to
supporting Mrs. Simpson Miller.
Representatives of the National Worker’s Union (NWU), the PNP Women’s Movement and the PNP Youth Organization
(PNPYO) also voiced their support for Mrs. Simpson Miller. Mr. Michael Stewart, Member of Parliament of
South Manchester and Senator Floyd Morris, spoke on behalf of the PNP
Parliamentary Group and unequivocally voiced their support for the Leader of
the Opposition and President of the PNP. Mayor Scean Barneswell also gave a
strong endorsement on behalf of the members of the Caucus of PNP Councillors.
In response, Mrs. Simpson Miller thanked
all who were present for their expression of support. In a speech punctuated
with fun and laughter, Mrs. Simpson Miller pointed out that since her
leadership of the PNP, she has consistently led a process of renewal of the
organization. She pointed out that she brought in 17 new candidates for the
2007 election; 22 in 2011 and 19 in 2016. In addition, she opined that major
reforms were done to the Constitution of the PNP in 2008 under her leadership.
She indicated that when she wins the election on September 17, she will embark on
implementing the recommendations of the Appraisal Committee that examined the
reasons for the defeat of the PNP in the February 25, 2016 election.
Just fewer than 3,500 delegates will cast
their vote for the President and four Vice-Presidents of the PNP on September
17.
