JPS
Continuing Restoration Efforts
-Some
Outages to Extend Until Tomorrow
May 16, 2017/4:00pm
JPS is
continuing its restoration efforts across several communities island-wide. While the Company is making every effort to
restore customers, factors such as continuing rain, access to locations, and
land slippages, will result in some customers being without power
overnight.
The communities affected by weather-related
power outages include:
· KINGSTON & ST ANDREW: University Road
and August Town Road, Mavis Bank Road, Stony Hill, Glengoffe, Zion Hill,
Drewsland, Cross Roads, Harbour View
·
ST
MARY: Cyrus District, Cascade, Three
Hills, Gayle, Frontier Drive, Richmond, Belfield
·
HANOVER:
Negril, Riley,
Dias
·
ST ANN: Cascade, Wild Cane
District
·
ST
JAMES: Catadupa Main Road to Marchman, Flankers, Tucker, Irwin, Norwood
·
ST
CATHERINE: Syndenham, Kitson Town, Poinciana Close, Sandy Ground
· CLARENDON:
Hayes, Backford,
Chapelton, Denbigh, Mount Providence, Summerfield, Wood Hall, York Town, Danks, Frankfield, Alston, Kellits, Crofts Hill, Lluidasvale, and
surrounding areas
PPresently, restoration
work in Clarendon is being hampered by flooding and landslides, which have caused some roads to be impassable. Our teams are not able to gain access to
some communities to repair power lines or replace damaged poles. As a result, a
number of communities, including those already listed, are likely to have
outages extending into tomorrow.
As at 4pm, less than 3% of
the Company’s customer base, was out of power.
The Company will continue to do everything possible to restore customers
as quickly and safely as possible.
