Person Got Entangled In JPS Power Lines

I received a reports out of Spanish Town that someone was electrocuted while picking mangoes from a tree which was close to the JPS power lines. This has happened a few times in the past with persons being killed while tampering with JPS lines or killed while climbing a tree that is close to the power lines.

Persons should keep trees in their yards pruned so that these trees do not come into close contact with JPS lines. If the tree is close to a JPS line, then one should not attempt to cut the tree before contact has been made with the JPS and the power to the area turned off.

Under no condition should anyone attempt to climb a tree which is near to power lines. Even if the tree seems far from the lines, your weight could pull the tree closer to the power lines and you could end up losing your life.

It should be noted that no one should approach the area until the power supply has been cut by the JPS. You will note in the picture below that after the incident, many persons including members of the security force were under the tree. which came in contact with the JPS power lines.

Please remember that no one should go near the tree until JPS arrives on the scene and disconnect the power supply from the area. One lady was seen walking up and down under the tree inspecting the body on the ground.
