Hon. Edmund Bartlett Minister of Tourism - Jamaica |
Minister Edmund has sent me an exclusive statement about a video which gives the impression that Jamaicans are not being allowed to enter the Puerto Seco Beach, because they are black. This video has been widely circulated internationally and could cause damage to our tourism product. Please circulate this post especially to those who send you the misleading video. Ask them to in turn, send this post to those who forwarded the misleading video to them
I must admit that I was very disturbed when I received this video from a number of Jamaicans. I immediately made contact with the Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and he responded promptly to me. The minister has just finished participating in a Forum in Dubai. It is clear to me that even with the dangerous pandemic Covid-19 around, Minister Bartlett is trying to ensure that we neither die from Covid-19 nor die from poverty. We are definitely in a crisis and this is not the time for mischief makers to turn our country upside down.
Minister Bartlett is now travelling, and I must say thanks to him for taking the time out while he was at the airport to respond to my query. The minister not only responded to my query, but he also updated me on his trip,

I'm glad that the minister was able to come out as make a statement to clarify what was being said on that video. I saw the video on my community wattsapp group and most people were of the opinion that it's racism and which seems to be taking over Jamaica in the beach areas. I have posted this information from the minister so hope this will very of help
ReplyDeleteI don't know why these people like to send false news I get the video and from I watch it I know something wasn't right even the two men that walk in before they even reach the window he was saying look how they going to send them back this is another one of the PNP plan to make it look bad and the country they need to go and find some work to do nonsense
ReplyDeleteWe assume way too much. Noone ever stopping to verify the information including media houses and journalists. As a regular to Puerto Seco I am aware of their opening days, the protocols and reservation process. It's non descriptors and if you simply just made a phone call you would have been advised of their policies and procedures. Those who book are given priority and walk ins are treated on a space available basis. I was advised when I made contact to book a date and time so space can be held for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat did the minister say about the story, is it true or false
ReplyDeleteYou should listen to what the Minister said!
