Students Need Scholarships and Grants?
It is interesting that a minister of government has pointed out that many students are not interested in applying for scholarships.
I have been promoting two scholarships, tenable at the University of the West Indies and grants for students entering high schools, and the interest by students has been abysmally low. I thought that these are difficult times in Jamaica especially for parents sending their children to high school. I keep on posting on this page and announcing on radio the JAD2.4 million scholarships tenable at the University of the West Indies. I also have USD2000 available for high school students as grants. Interest in these scholarships and grants, have been very low. I wonder if students are just looking for free money.

Covid-19 on the Decline - Will You get That Visa
I understand that there is still a backlog of cases dealing with applications for US visas. It can still take more than a year to get your visa. If you already had a visa and your visa has expired within the last four years, then it might not take so long to get an interview and to get that visa.
Corey Derby with stage name Corey Rhymes speaks about getting that visa.

Government To Take Action To Protect Insurance Industry

Mr. Peter Levy, Managing Director for BCCI, has said that Jamaica is in the grey area as far as German Government officials are concerned. My understanding is that the German Government is unhappy with some of our financial regulations which gives Jamaica tax haven status. If changes are not made to these laws, then Jamaica could end up not being able to do business with German insurance companies which facilitates reinsurance of our insured risks. If Jamaican companies are not allowed to reinsure their risks, then insuring your properties and motor vehicles could become very expensive.

who he described as being weak and as being cowards. He said that Jamaicans must stand up and let the leaders know that they have have enough of crime and particular murders. He said that when we give convicted murderers life sentence, we are punishing the public, who will have to pay for their upkeep while in prison.
Earlier this month, MP Robert Montague declared that if we are not willing to hang the murderers, then we should remove that law from the books.
Crime Continues
On The Ground Reporter says that there was a drive by shooting in Shooter's Hill and at least one person has died.

As far as I see, most of the students want to have the luxury of studying abroad. In addition they do not want debt a d would rather be here there and everywhere. Go Fund Me is their thing.

ReplyDeleteIf hanging is considered to be barbaric and inhumane, then change the law to 'shooting by firing squad'. In that case the guilty murderers would get a taste of their own bitter medicine.... "Those that live by the gun, shall/should die by the gun"
