EMPOWERING DREAMS: … The EDUCOM 2023 Ezra Lewis Tertiary Scholarship Awards

Announcing the EDUCOM  2023 Ezra Lewis Tertiary Scholarship Awards – a beacon of opportunity in a world that thrives on education.

A torchbearer of hope, Ezra Lewis believed that knowledge is the passport from poverty to success, echoing the wisdom of Marcus Garvey. His legacy, rooted in his horticultural journey in 1950s Canada, lives on through these scholarships.

From his creation of the Educom Credit Union at the University of the West Indies, Ezra's commitment to education took flight. His vision, immortalized in his will, endows annual scholarships to two exceptional tertiary students.

Today, after 25 impactful years, Ezra's legacy continues. Guided by this purpose, I, have in recent years, stepped into the role of presenting these awards. Yesterday, August 23rd, marked the announcement of this year's recipients.

Congratulations to Monique Robb-Cameron and Aaliyah Dutaille. Monique, an educator at Wolmers Girls School, as she charts her course towards a Master's in Human Resources Development at the University of the West Indies. Aaliyah, a Bachelor's degree seeker, will be presented with her award from Educom's Montego Bay branch manager.

Let's commend Educom for nurturing a scholarship program that illuminates pathways to success. Their commitment extends to 90 future high school students who will walk under the same benevolent umbrella this September.

This story is an inspiration for corporate entities. Take a page from Educom's book – invest in youth, liberate minds, and reshape destinies. Ezra Lewis' wisdom lives on: "None but ourselves can free our minds." Education is the conduit to unleash boundless potential. The EDUCOM 2023 Ezra Lewis Tertiary Scholarship Awards are not just acknowledgements; they embody the legacy of transformation.

Congratulations to Monique Robb-Cameron  (L) and Aaliyah Dutaille.
