Bark Di Trute Big A Yard and Big Abroad

Bark Di Trute Editor

Some of my readers have been sending me some interesting questions and some have posted them at the end of the blogs.

Someone said that the articles are very good and they should be carried in the traditional media. The Observer and other media houses have carried stories from this site in the past.

One person encouraged those who add comments to the post, to write to the Prime Minister instead of posting comments to the blog.  Please note that the PM reads my blogs and he calls me Mr. Bark Di Trute. The Leader of the Opposition, Ministers of Government and other leaders also get my blogs. There are times when articles of a particular nature need the attention of persons in government or the private sector and I send the post to the relevant person and/or organization.

Jamaicans overseas have shown a strong interest in the site and members of the diaspora have invited me to join one of their groups.

Blogs are shared on my radio programme, X and Facebook which has a following of over 30,000 people. Blogs are sent out to over 10,000 persons each day and are viewed over 40,000 times each month. Since I started posting regularly over two years ago, the site has been viewed over 1.09 million times.

Bark Di Trute comes up first when you enter it in the world's top search engine Google. Yes, it is a leading blog site in Jamaica.

Maintaining this site is costly and is really a labour of love. I have reached out for support in terms of equipment and financial support but the responses have been few. Thanks to the gentleman from New York who donated an iPhone, my brother Benny and his wife who donated a very good computer. There are many others like Joan Thomas and others who are always there to give moral support. Persons who are willing to point out errors in the posts. Some people stay up with me until early in the morning while I prepare these blogs. There are graphics to create, videos and sound files to edit.

Recently Lois Grant became quite concerned about the level of work I have been putting in. She offered to help even though she is now retired. Lois also freelances with NBC and has had a distinguished career in journalism, heading the communications unit in the Office of the Prime Minister and also running her own communications production company. Recently she went on an assignment for Bark Di Trute as a travel influencer to Mexico. Many of our outstanding artists have to give thanks to her because she helped to launch their careers when she was in charge of the Tastee Talent Competition. I assisted her while she was in charge of the Tastee Talent Competition.

Other great things are coming up. In a few months, applications will open for the Violet Edwards scholarships. Thanks to Everett Smith in Florida, USA for spearheading this through my radio programme. Over JAD4.5 million has been given to the fund already and we are aiming to raise JAD2 million this year.

We have set up the first Media Emergency Alert System which allows leaders in the Jamaica Constabulary Force, ODPEM, and The Fire Brigade Service to send emergency alert messages to media persons for them to announce on air. Readers who subscribe to Bark Di Trute Emergency Alerts will also get messages directly.

Bark Di Trute is a powerful medium for Jamaicans to get their voices heard and to reach out to their leaders. Thanks to the many persons who have supported and shared the blogs. Continue to build and support Bark Di Trute and we will continue to help Jamaicans. Bark Di Trute on the Internet and Spoton With Vernon Derby on the radio are winning combinations.

Note:

When you access the blog site on your computer you can access other features. You can also change the view to web view to see these features. The features include lodging complaints and consumer matters and your communities. indicating your birthday so that I can mention you on air and registering your name so that you can get emergency alerts and breaking news.

To be honest Sir Vernon, your Job is truly one tough Job. Worse if you alone have to be doing your own show. However; it is because you love what you do that is why you are going beyond the call of duty to really help Jamaicans and the diaspora to know what is going on in our little country. I pray that as we continue to work together, we will see the need to help Sir Vernon, in whatever shape or form. He deserves our support. Keep it up my dear brother.

So this the breaking News across the Caribbean, especially in Jamaica. Nearly fore thousand (4000) prisoners have been released from Haiti prison. This is a very dangerous problem! How are in the Caribbean planning to deal with this crisis. We need action now. Not later, I hope that all minister of government is on red alert.🧑‍🚒
