Retreat Seventh-Day Adventist Church Pastor Send's Letter to Parents About 'Unfortunate Incident'

Pastor Linton Hamilton

Jamaicans have become insensitive to crime and the high level of indiscipline in our schools. I got a report that a Principal was stabbed at a school. The report indicated that teachers were assaulted. This matter has not been reported elsewhere as far as I know. This is a church school and the top echelons of the church were unaware of the incident. This took place at the Quickstep Kindergarten Preparatory School in St. Mary.

The following letter was sent to the parents:

I have a few concerns about how this letter is written. All letters coming from the school should be properly checked before being sent out. Persons expect high standards from our schools. For example, the format for the date should be Monday, April 29, 2024. I have other concerns but that is not the main issue.

I love how the Chairman in the letter to the parents classified the incident as - unfortunate!

The letter to the parents did not say if the matter was reported to the police and what action had been taken.

I'm wondering if our students are expressing the pain they are feeling. Most of our homes are single parent homes, more often than not, support is non-existent so there is lack, all round. Lack in finances therefore lack in mere necessities, if needs cannot be met then wants have no mention. Teenagers have needs, we all know this. Peer pressure is real. Unrequited love is real and painful. The list goes on. Social media is their playground, which is a tragedy.
Their pain is real and we have not given them the tools to navigate maybe because we are in pain as well.

Yes, there are several programmes that can be used to check/correct grammar and sentence-structure such as Grammarly and other Word add-on's as well as free a-i programmes like chatgtp.
