Young Jamaica Says Remove Dwayne Vaz as Caretaker

The Following is a Press Release from Young Jamaica - April 23, 2024:

Dwayne Vaz

Young Jamaica, the youth arm of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), is calling on Mark Golding, President of the People's National Party (PNP), to take immediate action in light of the damning recommendation from the Integrity Commission regarding Dwayne Vaz, the former Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland.

The Integrity Commission's recommendation for charges to be laid against Vaz for breaching the Integrity Commission Act cannot be ignored. It is imperative for the integrity of our political system that swift and decisive action is taken. As caretaker for Central Westmoreland, Vaz's alleged misconduct undermines the trust between the electorate and their representatives.

Furthermore, Young Jamaica condemns Mark Golding's attempt to divert attention from this serious issue by perpetuating false narratives about the so-called "illicit 6." It is disappointing to see the President of the PNP resorting to such tactics to deflect attention from a member of his inner circle facing serious allegations. This manipulation of the truth is a disservice to the Jamaican people and tarnishes the reputation of our democratic process.

Young Jamaica President Rohan Walsh is demanding accountability from Golding for his role in setting this misleading narrative. The PNP President must apologize to the Jamaican people for attempting to deceive them and for prioritizing state power over truth and transparency.

It is time for Jamaica to see the PNP and Mark Golding for what they truly are – a party willing to resort to misinformation and lies in their relentless pursuit of state power at any and all costs. Young Jamaica stands firm in its commitment to integrity and accountability in our political landscape, and we urge all Jamaicans to join us in holding our leaders accountable for their actions.

I listened to Dwayne Vaz explain and it sounds as though the Integrity Commission are the ones that bundled and messed up the issue.
Vaz has actually done nothing wrong except filing a document few days late.
Any offence was minor and fine valued Ja$250,000.
