Joan Gordon-Webley MP Candidate for West Rural St. Andrew Talks About Poor Garbage Collection

Press Release from PNP West Rural St. Andrew - 20241009

Joan Gordon-Webley, MP Candidate - West rural St. Andrew

Joan Gordon-Webley, MP Candidate for West Rural St. Andrew, is calling on the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), the Government agency whose mission is to:

“Provide(s) solid waste management services in order to safeguard public health, while helping to create an environment that is healthy and aesthetically pleasing for both residents and visitors to enjoy.”

to address the increasingly unacceptable state of garbage collection in the constituency. Residents of the Golden Spring community in Stony Hill have expressed growing frustration over the deteriorating and unhealthy conditions caused by inconsistent garbage collection. Gordon-Webley has noted the overflowing bins and scattered waste which pose significant health risks to the community.

“The residents of Golden Spring deserve better. The deplorable state of garbage collection is not just an eyesore; it threatens the health and safety of our families,” said Gordon-Webley. “We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to these issues. I am urging the Government and the NSWMA to take immediate action to restore proper garbage collection services in West Rural St. Andrew.”

Gordon-Webley emphasized that effective waste management is essential for the well-being of constituents and the environment. She plans to advocate for more resources and better management practices to ensure that garbage collection is regular and efficient across West Rural St. Andrew.

“I have been reliably informed that this pile up of garbage inside and around the Golden Spring Primary School compound has accumulated over the last three weeks. This is hazardous to the students and staff as it exposes them to various outbreaks and diseases.”

Gordon-Webley is committed to fighting for the residents of West Rural St. Andrew and ensuring that their voices are heard and that they receive the representation they deserve. “It’s time for action. This is simply not good enough.”

  1. The authorities aid and abet the municipal nastiness operating as an authority on backdoor taxation.

  2. What is backdoor taxation? Take a look at downtown, especially the market district. Garbage has made one street near the soldier post into a one way road??? For months I have had near misses of accidents because of it + the numerous potholes and running sewage on the roads.

  3. This is every communities issue right now, citizens just dump their garbage anywhere. Light it anywhere, most are nasty and just don't care, if truck comes and remove it before the end of the day it is as if it wasn't removed. I was in a taxi Monday and an elder drank a soda and throw the bottle through the windows before I could say anything a lady on the outside confronted him about it , he told her she must mind har business, it was at a stoplight on Boulevard
