Breaking News - Fab Five Band Member Dies!

Sydney Thorpe

Sydney Thorpe, keyboard player for Fab 5, has passed on. This information was released tonight by Fab 5 Band manager Frankie Campbell.

Sydney has been a professional musician for over forty years, since leaving the Salvation Army School for the Blind in 1979. In one of his online comments, he says that he did courses at the then Jamaica School of Music and the Foster Davis School of Music. He also became a member of the world-famous Fab 5 Band. His memory of music and people is legendary. What he missed in not being able to see, was magnified in his intellectual development and his superb musical talents.

Sydney has been a studio musician for some of Jamaica’s most celebrated recording artistes. He has established an unblemished reputation as a provider of entertainment and master of ceremonies for various events. His arranging and production abilities have been sought after by artistes in the gospel, pop and reggae idioms.

Many of us will remember his voice in radio and television commercials.

  4. It’s the ‘time continuum’ we are here but for a moment! He has left His mark, that’s amazing. May his journey continue Beautifully.

Jamaica’s musical journey is in safe hands, it may not appear so because of the noise of the few however, there are very talented musicians in place and others taking their place in every genre of music! Reggae, Jazz, Gospel even Dancehall.

Our musicians and music are ALIVE & WELL!!
