If Crime Trends Down, The Stocks of The Politicians and the JCF Will Improve

Police Commissioner Kevin Blake

Commissioner Kevin Blake is a proud man leading the Jamaica Police Force. Crime is trending down this year, and specifically, murders are trending down. Dr. Chang, the Minister of National Security, the man who speaks in soft tones, is smiling from one ear to the other. The government says it has spent billions on security, which involves capital expenditure and expenditure on the men and women in the JCF. What impact will this have on the electorate?

Will the people give Peter Bunting another chance, or will they give the JLP a third term? One poll is predicting that if elections were called now, the JLP would win by a small number of seats. Another pollster said the trend saw the JLP heading downhill, and that is not normally reversed. Are we falling in love with the lover boy, Andrew, and abandoning our new heartthrob, Markie Golding?

The police commissioner is reporting that the murder figure so far for May is 43. This represents a 67% reduction over May last year and a break in the over-decade-old trend of very high numbers relative to other months.

For seven years, it is reported that police sports have been suspended due to work pressure. The commissioner has promised the men their sports day this year.

Mr. Commissioner, the force members need a break. PM, call out the army and call out some volunteers to support the police so we can ensure a crime-free day while the police take a break. They need the break. Oh...oh, that sounds like a state of emergency for a day.

Let's not believe all is well because crime is trending down. We will now have to employ more social workers who will give support and help in order to build functional families. Students, parents, and teachers need a national code of conduct. Breaches of the code by anyone should prompt swift and firm action.

Criminals must now pay for the trials and for their incarceration. If one takes a life, one should be willing to lose one's life. Sex offenders must be known. We cannot be more concerned about the safety of sex offenders than the safety of possible victims. We have suffered at the hands of criminals for too long. Time for the criminals to feel it.

The elections are around the corner. We are tired of the tracing matches going on among political leaders. We want to hear about a government that will create a society where criminals live in fear and decent citizens can walk and enjoy the moonlight or the sunshine.

Yes, we want to hear how the next government will help to create an orderly society. A society where we not only move the criminals out from among us but also move from our roads, those who drive weapons of mass destruction. We want a disciplined government to build a disciplined society. All those who are just looking for power, please talk to JPS and not to us!

It's time for you to stand up and be heard. Please add your comments about crime, and state your recommendations for dealing with this monster.

  1. A crime is any behaviour that attracts a fine or imprisonment.

Crime is not a beginning nor an end in itself it is the result of many contributing holistic socio economic and cultural nuances.

The police while doing a commendable job, expecting them to have the ultimate impact on weakening the industry is like giving a man straw basket to carry water.

Today crime has morphed into a very profitable, holistic and attractive industry providing a livelihood for thousands of Jamaicans.

If a detailed analysis is done one will realize that most Jamaicans are criminals. Some more egregious than others.
A mass movement in said direction is embarked on or United Pentecostal.
