| Prime Minister Holness is literally on the street |
Jamaicans were in for a shock yesterday when they saw their prime minister on the streets of Kingston, campaigning and distributing his party's document outlining the government's achievements over the years. Some people even came out of their vehicles to greet him.
This must be a first for a Jamaican prime minister to take his message directly to the people on the streets literally.
I must admit that when I heard that he was on the street in Halfway Tree, I was nervous. Politics can be a delicate thing in any democracy. I am happy that the day was incident-free.
Jamaica is showing the world how we conduct our political campaign peacefully. We could show our friends up north how to do it, and our friends in the Middle East and Africa.
We know as a people where we are coming from. What a thing! We are in the middle of an election campaign, and we are doing it peacefully. Congratulations to the PNP and the JLP. Keep it that way. Thanks also to the police and all the political activists.
