Tropical Wave Expected To Move Across Jamaica By Tuesday Night

A Tropical Wave is forecast to enter the central Caribbean by Tuesday, and is then projected to move across Jamaica by Tuesday night into Wednesday. Consequently, unstable weather conditions are expected to impact the island beginning Tuesday night.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect sections of eastern parishes Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, then spreading to remaining parishes by Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning. Strong gusty winds are also expected across the island during this time.

Fishers and other marine interests, especially those on the south coast should exercise caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds Tuesday night through to Thursday morning.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system and update as necessary.
