Sir Patrick Allen - Governor General of Jamaica. |
It was brought to my attention that the proclamation from King's House for the general election date said Thursday, September 3, instead of Wednesday, September 3. The Governor General's office denied that their document had an error. Those media houses that published the incorrect information should speak up. Someone should be held accountable.
This is not a minor matter, because it reflected poorly on the office of the governor general. When I saw the story, I said those officials at King's House need to pack their bags and go. Did someone leak the wrong document to the press? Did the press get it wrong? Something does not add up. Who will tell the nation the truth in terms of what really happened?
However, when all is said and done, it is still time for the Governor General to demit office.
GOD SAVE US!

None of us is perfect anyone can make a error The date is the same
ReplyDeleteYes, errors can be made but an apology is in order.
ReplyDeleteThe media houses should show us a copy of the document they got.
This relic of an office from slavery must go.....the only significant thing I recall about the current gg is the sentencing of the kings house ackee tief.....his semi literate comment about what is right with jamaica fixing all that is wrong with jamaica and the hush up of the accident involving his son on the Brunswick spanish town with a lowly jamaican female....
ReplyDeleteHe is the GG he can always correct it. Now, who leaked the error to the press without bringing it to his attention. That is the real cause for concern
ReplyDeleteSeems we all missed the real cause for concern here. Politics seem to trump loyalty to country any day and that's a problem.
DeleteThis matter is important because there was an error in the information released to the public. The Governor General's office has said it is not responsible for the error. Who is accountable? Where is transparency and honesty in this matter? If there was an error in the proclamation, could this make it invalid? What impact would it have on the elections? Would we have to have a new date for the elections? We depend on the media for honest reporting of the facts. Can we trust media houses? Any further delay in the elections because of the error could have resulted in further tensions in the society. This is not a matter for us to just pass over. Confidence can be restored when we hear the truth and nothing but the truth. Matters of state are not things to pass off as one just making a mistake. The judicial system making a mistake can cause someone to get life sentence for something he or she did not do!
ReplyDeleteReally though this Governor General has performed poorly.
