Total Voters In EOJ's Database Wrong Therefore Percentage Participation in The General Elections Wrong?

That Voters' Database

I hear some people are saying that the majority of Jamaicans did not vote in the recent general elections. We therefore have a minority government. First, no one can accurately tell me the total number of persons living in Jamaica who are eligible to vote. Secondly, it is not stated in the Constitution, but people have a right not to vote. The fact that they have not voted does not invalidate the majority decision made by those who voted.

People have migrated, and some have died. When last have we updated the voter database to reflect this? If the voters' database is incorrect, then the given percentage of those who voted is incorrect!

Is it possible that the media houses, pollsters, and political commentators have been giving the public incorrect information?

No Betta Herring no Betta Barrel

Some people will tell you that the two political parties are not better than the other. Several independent candidates and representatives of new parties participated in the recent general election. None of these representatives won a seat.

The Importance of Your Citizenship

Many of us do not understand the challenge that it can create if you are a citizen of another country. If Vernon Derby is an MP or the Prime Minister of Jamaica, and he is also a citizen of another country, then if that other country's government feels that I am not being treated properly, they could extract me from the country. If I were a young MP, I could be drafted into the army!

If two countries are at war and someone is a citizen of both countries, then would I be seen as an enemy of the other country? Would I be trusted with certain confidential state information? Now I understand why some countries don't support dual citizenship.

That Passport

If I enter Jamaica on a non-Jamaican passport, then, as far as I know, I would be given a specific time to remain in the country. The question is, on what basis would I be given an unconditional landing? Would it be based on who I am or what position I hold in the country? If I were given a specified time to stay and I overstayed, what action was taken against me? I hope that there is not a hint of corruption here, and I wonder how many people this applies to.

I understand that voters from the diaspora packed a flight to come to Jamaica to vote. Was it legal for them to come to vote in Jamaica when they are not ordinarily resident here? There are many questions in this blog that PICA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Electoral Office of Jamaica need to answer. There have been too many speculations about these matters in society, while these entities keep quiet.

What do you think???

  2. I am not going agree with no better barrel. We have seen strides with this Government. We are human that makes us limited.
NO GOVERNMENT CAN PLEASE ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME.
Especially here I Jamaica with so many lazy people who were never taught to take responsibility for their private lives. They are owed something therefore they someone else's responsibility. I an impatient with how we thnk as Jamaicans OUR FAULT NOT lHOLDING OUR GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO
