Melissa has come and gone, but another disaster will be just around the corner if we don't do things correctly and ensure that we comply with the law.
A Bark Di Trute supporter says we need to ensure that people stop throwing garbage in the gullies. He thinks there is a need for proper town planning. He went on to say we have to rethink how we construct our buildings, especially public buildings. We should look at having concrete roofs instead.
Another supporter says that the weather bulletin needs to be written in simpler language. He said further that when people talk about the Northwestern part of Jamaica, the man on the street thinks of politics and constituencies. He suggested that if the report say northern parishes, the report should also name the parishes.
I believe we should use SI units rather than giving both millimetres and inches for the quantity of rain. We should use kilometres per hour rather than miles per hour for wind speed.
The following questions are being asked:
- Why were the patients at the Black River Hospital not evacuated?
- Why did we not hear more from the technical people, such as the head of ODPEM giving guidance to the people?
- Gully cleaning should be an ongoing matter. Why did we wait until the last minute to start cleaning the gullies?
- I advised the nation about this weather pattern, which was called Invest 98L from October 18, 2025.
- There is no water in Long Mountain, Queens
- Seaford Town in Westmoreland got a very hard hit and lots of people lost houses.
- There is still no light or internet at Beethoven Ave in Kingston.
- Many people in Portmore were without electricity and FLOW. I understand that the services
Someone suggested that since there was a plan to build a new town in St. Elizabeth, then we should ensure that proper plans are made and and the buildings should be able to withstand even a category 5 hurricane. THe person went on to say, the roofs should be made of concrete.
I am certain that I left out some of the suggestions sent to me. Keep the suggestions coming in.
