Excellent Customer Service In Short Supply In Jamaica

Everton Anderson
NHF Head.
There are a few places one can go to and receive excellent customer service in Jamaica. The NIS is trying, the Fire Brigade Service does a fairly good job, and the NHF wins the Gold. Do you have some more examples? There have been significant improvements in how the members of the security forces deal with members of the public.

If organizations in both the public and private sectors start to put emphasis on their staff giving excellent customer service, Jamaica will become the greatest little country on earth.

How about a theme for this drive, 'Give of yourself, Give Excellent Service'? We could start the drive with supermarket and gas station workers. Can you imagine driving to a gas station, and you are greeted by an attendant saying, "Good day, Sir, thanks for patronizing us today. How may I help you?" When you are leaving, the attendant says, "Thanks for coming here today. Have a safe journey."

Can you imagine going to the cashier at the supermarket and the cashier gives you a warm smile and says, "Thanks for using our services today. When the cashier is finished dealing with you, she looks at you, flashes a smile, and says, "It was good serving you today—looking forward to seeing you here again soon.

We do it for the tourists; we can do it for Jamaicans. Who is willing to get this Service Excellence drive going? This would make Jamaica the ideal place to live in the world. This would certainly lower the stress levels for all of us. Can we give it a try?

Another Suicide!

I just received another suicide report in St. Andrew. This was committed by a businessman/YouTuber. I understand from reports that the businessman has a mental challenge. If he has a mental challenge, then why does he own a licensed firearm?

The Firearm Licensing Authority needs to assure us that there are no other persons out there with mental issues who are holders of licensed firearms.

Innocent or Guilty Jamar Farquharson

Jamar Farquharson.

Recently, I saw a video being circulated, showing a gentleman allowing police officers to enter his house in Clarendon. This happened in Cherry Tree Lane. This is the same Cherry Tree Lane where 8 people were killed by hoodlums last year.

The recent incident in Cherry Tree Lane saw a young man 22 years old, Jamar Farquharson, losing his life at the hands of the police, the residents claim. My understanding is that the police had a search warrant for the premises. I would be surprised if the court issued a search warrant to look for some pears at this house. The police must have some intelligence as to who lives at the house and also who are the persons of interest who frequent there.

Did the police take a phone from Jamar Farquharson? Have they checked to see if he called any person or persons who are on their radar?

Did any of Jamar's friends leave a weapon at the house, and did the police find that weapon?

Did Jamar see any incriminating evidence that could land him in big trouble, and did he decide to pose a challenge to the police?

The residents of Cherry Tree Lane need to ask these and other questions. I am sure they know more than they pretend to know. Extrajudicial killing is not something to embrace, but Jamaica is at war with many criminals, taking the fight to the police. I have seen even women in physical confrontation with police officers.

OUR Needs Some Work To do.

I believe the OUR needs some work to do as the Office of Utility Regulations. The OUR should require utility companies to prepare monthly reports that show the areas that have been out of service and for how long. If the time amounts to a day in one month, the customer should be compensated. If we pay our bills one second late, we have to pay a late fee.

Consumers would certainly benefit from this policy. I am looking forward to the implementation of this system.
