Significantly more support is needed, though, to make Bark Di Trute profitable. At this time, it is a labour of love. It is also used very effectively to hold people accountable. We are now developing the distinction of sharing news first, and in one case, we were the first to share an international news item.
Be informed by reading Bark Di Trute. It is interesting to note that there is far more overseas support for Bark Di Trute than we have in Jamaica.
We have been able to assist many Jamaicans here and overseas. I believe one of our greatest achievements is setting up an 'Emergency Alert Broadcast System' (EABS) for the JCF, the Meteorological Service, the Fire Brigade, NSWMA, and ODPEM. We have teamed up with media houses and media personalities to assist these organizations in getting important information to the public as it happens.
During the period before and during Hurricane Melissa, Bark Di Trute produced and presented over 50 weather bulletins. We also highlighted the danger of the most powerful hurricane to hit our shores in recorded history.
We could not do all of this without the moral support of many people. Thanks to those who contributed articles and those experts who are always willing to give advice and contribute material. Thanks to those who took personal interest in me and often called to tell me to go to bed. Thanks to those who take the time to read the articles.
