Since Melissa A number of Dangerous People Have Become Stars on Social Media

 Melissa Fake News

Jamaicans in the diaspora should realize that many sick persons are trying to get mileage out of the devastation of our beautiful island, Jamaica, by Hurricane Melissa. I have seen videos of sharks swimming in a pool.  Nutten no go so. There is talk about people dying because they are marooned and no one has sent food for them. The talk is about no government official having visited certain areas. The Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition cannot visit every damaged spot. The devastation covers a large area. The people who are sending out false information are making money and getting attention for their sites. I wonder how much they will donate to the Melissa victims? They are no better than the birds that fly high up. Some have also set up sites to collect funds. Some of these sites asking you to donate funds are fake sites.

Much of the information that you see on social media about the Melissa aftermath is intended to get likes and increase following. In those devastated parishes, everybody knows everybody, and no one will forget those who are stranded. It was a catastrophe, so it will take time to get supplies and to put the logistics in place for distribution. Those who are writing the rubbish now, did you warn people to evacuate those areas that this Category 5 Hurricane Melissa was about to transform into a pile of rubble?

If you know of a community that has been marooned, let me know the name of the community and also send the GPS location by WhatsApp at (876) 816-5261. This information will be submitted to ODPEM immediately. Install a GPS locator application on your phone, and this will identify the GPS for the area. You can also use Google Earth to identify the location and get the GPS coordinates. This will assist the security forces in locating communities.

ALGAJ

When will ALGAH have their meeting for the election of officers? To what extent are councillors involved in the aftermath of Melissa? Let's hear from ALGAJ President Councillor Winston Maragh. He also talks about the damage caused by Melissa.

Michael Spence is one party, the Jamaica Party. He is suggesting that we have a committee from the various ministries, chaired by the Prime Minister. This would facilitate the immediate dissemination of information among the ministries.
