| Mr Desmond Williams, PDC Chairman. |
The St Elizabeth Parish Development Committee (PDC), led by Chairman Mr Desmond Williams, has begun a community rebuilding initiative following a recent walkthrough of hurricane-affected areas after Hurricane Melissa.
During the assessment, the committee identified several residents in need of urgent assistance in the Springfield community within the New Market Development Area. The initiative aims to support vulnerable residents whose homes were severely damaged during the hurricane.
The first recipient of this rebuilding effort is Ms Jennifer Robinson, whose home was among those significantly impacted by the storm. The project marks the beginning of what the PDC hopes will be a wider effort to assist other affected residents across the parish.
The St Elizabeth PDC has received strong support from community partners. Special thanks to Mrs. Hope Wood-Salmon, manager of the Bishop Boyle Outreach and Resource Centre in Mandeville, who readily came on board to sponsor the project and support the rebuilding effort.
Thanks to the PDC executive members, the Development Area Committees (DAC), the Community Development Committees (CDC), and representatives of the Social Development Commission (SDC) for their continued collaboration and commitment to community development.
