The sugar coating of bullying cases does not work. Sending out fancy press releases will not change the narrative and the reality of what is happening.
Attacking the Bark Di Trute editor will not solve the problem either. I advise parents that if your child is bullied, take your child to the general practitioner and to the psychiatrist and make sure that you report the incident to the police. Ensure that the police give you a receipt for the report. Even if it means borrowing money, get a lawyer and take civil action.
Let the court handle these bullying cases, and let the offenders' parents pay dearly for the cruelty displayed by their children.
Those who have ears to hear, let them hear or let them feel it.

I totally agree with you, it's happening, and the teachers are covering up for their favorite pupils, while the victim suffered.
ReplyDeleteThis is happening in many of our schools.and parents are afraid to come foreward, even for the sake of their children.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a zero tolerance in schools, expel right away. You come school to learn not to be in any gang and misbehave... All I know if a my bwoy him do suh.... Back in di days mothers head use to chip if teacher lick dem pickney but dem mothers nuh too deh bout again. Parenting has diminished.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, the only parish that had a real issue with crime was Kingston, and only in some areas of the capital. Instead of doing something about it, we covered up. We introduced burglar bars, all-inclusive hotels and gated complexes. So, because we ignored the problem and buried our heads in the sand, and crime morphed unto the monster that it has now become. Children have already been murdered by other children in our school system. For God-sake, let us be radical about dealing with bullying and ending violence in schools. Remove troubled children from the regular school system and place them in time-out facilities where they can get psychological help; institute behaviour-modification programmes in the basics and primary schools and even in high schools if needed, though by that time, it would be too late. Dedicate the 1st month of the school year, if not, the 1st term of school, to resocialization. In fact, only students in grades 6, 11, 22 & 13 who are preparing for exams should do one month. All other students should do ine term of resocialization. If a child chooses to be absent from these sessions, they should not be allowed to start classes until they have gone through the programme. After the resocialization programme has been concluded, the child and parents must sign an agreement regarding certain standards of behaviour. If they deviate from those standards, then certain consequences would apply. We need to train more guidance counsellors and place them in schools, in particular problem schools and we need to have more parenting sessions in our communities, especially in violence-prone communities. Finally, we need a general values and attitude campaign across the entire country as, truth be told, our society is very dysfunctional.
ReplyDeleteThat 2nd sentence should read: because we ignored the problem and buried our heads in the sand, crime has morphed into the problem it has now become.
DeleteThe Ministry of Education has released a statement about the video.
ReplyDeleteBecause we pet and powder these violence producers, they think that their behaviour is acceptable.
ReplyDeleteThe children involved and their parents MUST be charged.
