Alert - Ladies This Is Serious!

This is a ladies' alert. Many of you are worried about losing your man to another woman when you are actually going to lose your man to PC (Prostate Cancer). Men are scared of going to the doctor, so I am using this medium to appeal to the ladies to ensure that your spouse and all your male relatives and friends go to the doctor to check on their prostate gland.

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Jamaican men, accounting for over 40% of all male cancer diagnoses. 1,500 to 1,600 new cases are diagnosed every year in Jamaica. Yes, prostate cancer is nuff nuff eena Jumaica.

This evening I decided to do a bit of exercise and to walk around the block. I decided to speak to the men I saw about prostate cancer. It is amazing how little they know about this cancer. Only one man told me that he was tested and that he is OK. Some friends of a man told me that their friend is in intense pain with prostate cancer and his time on earth is limited. He was one of those who did not do what he was supposed to do.

I am appealing to you all, especially the ladies, to send this message to at least 10 or more males. This matter is very serious. You might lose your man, your relative, and other male relatives and friends to prostate cancer if they do not act now. If they wait too long, then mercy gone, the undertaker is at the door, and all you can do at that time is put yu han pan yu head an bawl, "Lawd Jesus, how him just dead so?" When you wait too long, obeah man cannot help you, bush medicine cannot help you, and only God can ease you from your pain.

The prostate is a small gland in the male reproductive system. Let your doctor do a PSA test or a physical examination to ascertain if further checks need to be done.

If it is suspected that you have prostate cancer, the doctor will let you do a biopsy to confirm the presence of the cancer. If you have reached a certain age and if the cancer is not aggressive, then the doctor might just give you medications.

To check if it has spread to other parts of the body, the urologist might request that you do an MRI and a bone scan.

The doctor might then advise you to remove the prostate and/or do chemotherapy and other treatment, depending on the stage of the cancer and how aggressive it is.

The doctor might even put you on drugs to reduce the level of testosterone produced, which I understand encourages cancer growth.

Those who have ears to hear, let them hear. Those who have ears and will not hear will feel.

This article was not intended to give you medical advice. It is meant to encourage you to make sure that males close to you are tested for prostate cancer.

  1. Most men unfortunately are more concerned about the test and that their sex droive might be affected. Is it better to live a long life for your family and friends , then do the test and if necessary remove the prostate. . The suffering you have to go through if you have cancer and don’t remove the prostate is not worth it. You still won’t be able to have sex due to the pain and sufffering and expense you will have if you don’t act on it NOW. Be sensible go and do your checks

    1. My understanding is that you can still have sex. The challenge is that, depending on the success of the operation, you could end up with erectile dysfunction. Talk to a neurologist.
