Mr E. G. Hunter is leaving NWA at last. God has certainly answered prayers. Minister Morgan, it does not matter if Mr Hunter was pushed or encouraged or if he realized that he had overstayed his time. It is a moment of rejoicing.
Minister, you did not have to comment on Mr Hunter’s work, since it is all there for us to see on our roads.
I have always called the NWA the National Wutless Agency. I don’t care if the next head is politically approved or not, so long as we get someone to move the agency. Hopefully, one day soon I will stop calling the NWA the National Wutless Agency, and I will call it the National Working Agency. Stephen Shaw also needs to take a walk. We should not allow public servants to stay in certain positions too long so that it appears that these people have claimed adverse possessions to those posts. The well-performing ones should be allowed to remain.
When we are interviewing the next candidates for leading the NWA, we should ask the interviewees the following questions:
- Under your watch, how long will a repaired pothole last?
- What steps will you take to have an electronic register of potholes and damaged roads across the island?
- What steps will you take to develop a temporary filling for potholes?
- What steps will you take to alert drivers of all potholes and damaged roads?
- What steps will be taken to ensure that no one digs up our roads until a time frame is given to recover the cost of repairing the road?
- What steps will be taken to ensure there is quality assurance in how our roads are built and maintained?
- What role can citizens play in ensuring that the NWA performs?
- What steps will be taken to put in place a system that will record the cost of maintaining and repairing a stretch of road on an annual basis?
Failure of the CEO to direct the organisation to fulfill the objectives of the organizaton, should result in the CEO having to pack all bags and head for the road.
The following are some examples of Mr Hunter's award-winning work on display. This is Fairdene Avenue, in Kingston which has been repaired numerous times. He might get an OJ for his great work.
