What's Happening - June 17, 2026

Today, Bark The Truth highlights some areas in Kingston that should get immediate attention. The challenges highlighted in this blog send a message to the citizens that no one cares about them. If you are going to fix the road, you should put up a notice on the sidewalk indicating when work will be done on the road. The police can send an Emergency Alert to all media houses to inform the public about the work to be done and the challenges one might experience in the areas where work is being done.

Someone could end up falling into an uncovered manhole and incurring major damage. My understanding is that if you start to work on the road, the government could incur civil liability if a citizen is hurt based on the condition that the area was left in.

Papine

Recently, I had to pass by Papine Square on my way to the UWI hospital. The place seemed chaotic with the buses, taxis, and the people milling around. Some people were trying to get a transport, while others were looking to items from the market. We need more buses to carry the bulk of passengers on our roads, and markets should be built in appropriate areas.

We should not be using the roads as transport centres. We need to build a modern market in Papine with a few floors for the buses and taxis to park and pick up passengers. The same thing should have applied to the transport centre in Halfway Tree.

The next shocking thing is that some clown decided to fix Golding Avenue, leading from Papine Square to the UWI hospital. They were fixing the roads during peak traffic time. The situation was chaotic. Areas like this should be fixed at night or on a Sunday afternoon.

MP Fayval Williams is responsible for this area.

A developing little Riverton City dump.

Citizens lost valuable time in this traffic.

The taxi was parked on the sidewalk.

The construction continues across from the UWI Hospital. No one can stop them.

Which senior NWA person was supervising the work?

Mulgrave Lane Citizens Crying For Help

I cannot believe that the road in an area can be in this state. Does this fall under the NWA, which Mr. Hunter is in charge of?

I received this report from a citizen in the area about the road:

That is the road condition of the road in my community of Mulgrave Lane off Slipe Road in the Kingston 5 area near Cross Roads

The National Water Commission NWC came and dugged up the road yesterday saying they will be laying new pipes in the community and left us without water and nobody can not drive in or out of their yard and  residents can not even find anywhere to walk on the road. Also there are 2 elderly sick person living on road incase there is an emergency there is no way we can rush with them to the hospital.

The MP is Mark  Golding

 Harbour View

In Harbour View, there is an uncovered manhole that poses a danger to people and motorists. Mrs Juliet Holness is the MP for that area. I hope she can bring pressure on the NWA to get this dealt with.

  1. There is no respect for the citizens of this country. How can a utility co march into a residential community giving no notice, dig up their road (leaving it looking bombed out), saying not a word to the residents? How long will this operation take?
Are water trucks coming into the area to offer service since regular service has been suspended?
    No Respect!!

Another area of concern is the garbage that seems to strewn on almost every corner? Does the MPM still operate, I thought new trucks were delivered the other day? City Kingston is a filthy disaster area.

Need we mention the condition of our roads? Main Roads or otherwise doesn’t matter! There is a rahtid hole at the intersection of Hope and Waterloo Roads!! My God will it take a tragic accident before corrective measures are taken? Molynes Road another major thoroughfare, condition deplorable!!

Mr. Holness are you running a country or a ‘patty shop’? We deserve much better!
