Wrong News Is Big News!

News is news, and we should not use words, pictures, or innuendos or link past stories with a current story, which can give a false impression in the minds of the listeners. Certain words used in a newscast can help to create a whole new story.

This excitement about the US sending criminals to Jamaica is one that was started by a media house, taken up by the people, and after a while, a whole new story was created. It has even led to a demonstration at Cross Road in Kingston recently.

A retired Jamaican who built her house to earn a little pension was living in fear because people threatened to destroy her house. Rumour had it that the US detainees would be housed there, and apparently one media house carried information that could have reinforced that belief.

The media house apologized for giving the wrong impression.

When we run with things, we can damage our own reputation. Lambert Brown and some media houses must understand that not everything brought to your attention, good fi chat bout. Some dirty linen fi hide under bed! I wonder if Lambert Brown have any dirty linen.

It has been confirmed that Jamaica will not be accepting criminals from the US, and detainees will not be let loose on the island. Details have not been discussed, so all the information you have been getting on this matter is false.

As I listen to the false stories, I remember the biggest false story in the history of Jamaica about the two john crows that were travelling across the island on a three-wheel coffin. The crows were asking for Mr. Brown. Thousands lined the streets of Jamaica to see these John Crows on top of this three-wheel coffin. It was pandemonium across the island in the 1960s during that time.

I hope the john crows have nothing to do with the various stories going around these days because there is enough dead meat for them to pick up. Why should I get John Crows mixed up in those stories? Are they on social media?

  1. Foundation fren say...same so. We seem to have let social media dumb us down. Politicians seem to have gone down the rabbit hole with the dumb, dull and ignorant also. That does not auger well for sound governance. Where we do not fact check. Jamaica is a paert of a global political and economic world. We are part of a bigger picture.
