KSAMC Fetes Over 300 Homeless People on New Years Day

Release From The KSAMC - 20250103:

On New Year’s Day, Kingston's Mayor Andrew Swaby continued the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation's (KSAMC’s) commitment to strengthening poor relief and welfare assistance programmes by feting over 300 persons experiencing homelessness.

The annual New Year’s Day Feeding of the Homeless programme was also extended to senior citizens who came from various communities across the municipality. This was a first-time venture for the corporation.

The KSAMC wishes to extend a special thank you to Pepsi and Humming Bird Charities for their partnership, which made the event a success.

Importantly, the event could not have been successful without the much appreciated input from Senior and Junior Councillors, managers, staff and all volunteers whose unwavering commitment and support will never go unnoticed.

A Look at Our Dutty Past - That Green Bay Massacre!

Sunday, January 5, is the anniversary of the Green Bay Massacre in Jamaica. Have you heard about it? How much do you know about it?

Tell me what you know about it and if you believe the nation has learnt anything from it. Were you born when it happened?

Violence breeds violence. Has anyone or any organisation apologized for what happened on the fateful day in 1978? Have we hidden this information from our people so we cannot know where we are coming from and why we are here?

It has been a violent past for Jamaica, and violence continues to plague our nation.

Please add your comments to this blog.

Are We All Gone Mad!!!

I received these interesting videos shown below this afternoon. If you are aware of the circumstances, then send me a WhatsApp message to 876 816-5261

Please do not click on the videos below if you will be offended by curse words.

These youngsters need counselling. This type of behaviour could cause the number of murders to increase this year. We probably need more social workers and not more police officers. Decisive action is needed now!

What actions do you believe should be taken?

A Frank Discussion With The Mayor of Falmouth, Colin Gager

Mayor Collin Gager, the Mayor of Falmouth, spoke to me today. He told me about the support he received from the private sector, which assisted the Trelawny Parish Council in giving packages to the elderly and shut-ins in Trelawny. It was a massive operation to ensure that the elderly, shut-ins, and other persons with challenges enjoyed their Christmas.

The Mayor, in his discussion with me, stated his position on how political leaders ought to treat those they represent.

Another role that our politicians play is to help people financially. Some of us might frown on this practice, but many parents, for example, who cannot afford lunch for their children, will beg a politician for funds. It is the reality of life. These politicians take money out of their pockets to help others. Politicians have to play the role of guidance councillors; they have to assist with funeral expenses, and the list goes on.

The life of a politician is not an easy one as some may think. It is risky, the demands can be overbearing, and they are abused by other politicians and also by the people who they serve.
